July is right around the corner, and the official street date for the G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA toys is bearing down upon us fast and furious. Smaller retailers are starting to get these items in early, as gunslingercbr reports from HissTank.com. Also Terror Drome member Firefly, who is a Toys “R” Us employee mentions that his store has started receiving stock with a street date marked July 10th.
I know I’m risking fandom onslaught for this, but from my own personal perspective, I haven’t been looking this forward to a new G.I. Joe line since the Sigma 6 days. I am just flat out ecstatic waiting for these movie figures…the early stuff that I’ve seen so far has been impressive to say the least, and I am just loving what they’re doing design-wise for the video game related stuff, too. I love the Reactive Armor suits, Flash and Helix are blowing my skirt up in a big way, and I’m just fired up to once again get dropped into a brand new mythology. From the prequel comic to the Above and Beyond novel, the video game, and the movie itself, we’re really getting a nice new sandbox to play with our toys in, and I absolutely cannot wait. Bring it on!
If anyone else has an issue with you fessin’ up your love for the new movie figures, screw ’em. They’re flat out awesome. I’m pumped for these guys, and they’ve got me interested in multiple purchasing again, something the 25th didn’t do for me. It’s nice to see my line has new breath in it.
I can’t wait to get street copies of Helix and Flash, as they’ve got me the most excited. I realize they’re to be released later, but still. All these figures have me giddy. Can’t wait to see them on the shelves!!
What’s this? Justin is excited about the movie and the toys from it? Goodness, I never would have known! What a SHOCK! And what? You liked Sigma 6 too? I’ve got to tell you Justin, this is coming totally out of left field.
Seriously dude, I’ve got no problem with you being excited and hyping the toys, as long as you don’t try to pressure anyone with that “support the movie, even if you don’t like it” stuff. Which you haven’t in this post. I thank you.
Looking forward to seeing some new toy reviews after the new stuff hits, hopefully.
Hey Justin,
Good to see you excited and hyped about the new stuff coming out. It is infectious.
As a huge fan of the 25th line, I’m sad to see them gone from the shelves. Seeing product that looked like the original ARAH line on the pegs transported me back to my childhood. I’m glad I got to experience it again, but I already miss them. However, I’m ready for the movie toys to start showing up on shelves. I may not be nostalgic for the new packaging, but I doubt I’ll be keeping these new ones in the package anyways.
I hope you’ll reprise your role as product reviewer when the new stuff finally hits distribution.
