Updated G.I. Joe: Retaliation SuperPage posted

Okay, it’s late, and I’ve been at this for several hours…so I think this is pretty accurate, but I welcome any feedback and comments to the contrary.  Re-arranged the wave layouts to more accurately reflect what we now know.  Added the EagleHawk, and the new figures we saw today.  Lots and lots of pictures!

Not all of the pictures…for all of the pictures, you gotta roam over to the YoJoe Events Page and check out the hundreds and hundreds of images that have been uploaded there.  The SuperPage is just for a bit easier reference point.

Some intel catch up on G.I. Joe: Retaliation wave assortments

When Hasbro revealed the information on “Wave 3” for G.I. Joe: Retaliation, there was quite a bit of confusion from those of us who were G.I. Joe fans in attendance.  I spoke to Derryl DePriest about it, and essentially the way things break down is this:

The current “Wave 3” that we are seeing at retail with Joe Colton, Lady Jaye, Alley-Viper, Dark Ninja, etc…  is considered a “filler” wave.  A Wave 2.5, if you will.  The full blown Wave 3 will be hitting in May and will consist of the following butt-load of figures:

  • Crimson Guard
  • Cobra Combat Ninja
  • “Ultimate” Movie Duke
  • “Ultimate” Movie Firefly
  • “Ultimate” Snake Eyes (Vintage inspired)
  • “Ultimate” Movie Flint
  • “Ultimate” Movie Roadblock
  • Budo
  • Storm Shadow (Sunbow inspired)
  • Cobra Commander (Sunbow inspired)
  • Kwinn
  • Data-Viper

There will also be a Wave 4 featuring Blind Master, Jinx, Night-Viper and I believe the movie accurate Red Ninja, and that will also have some carry-forwards from previous assortments.

More info as it comes, and the official press images should reveal even more.  Check out the images at the YoJoe.com Events page, and coverage brought to you by Kokomo Toys!

Coverage from the 2013 Toy Fair Hasbro Fan Event is on the horizon!

I’ve been getting a number of questions via e-mail, Twitter, and other places, so figured I would lay it all out here.  The Hasbro fan event begins today at 1:00pm Eastern Time here in New York City.  In spite of the Nemo assault, I am here in the city and ready to start spreading the 2013 G.I. Joe news!  The presentation generally lasts for a couple of hours, then images can be taken in the show room until closer to 4:30pm or 5:00pm.  Expect photo barrages to come shortly thereafter.

Pictures will be uploaded at the YoJoe Events section (with the appropriate notification here) and I’ll be doing all of the analysis and SuperPage stuff you’ve come to expect.  We also plan on doing a special What’s on Joe Mind recording tonight as well, breaking everything down.

Keep checking back, and of course, mobile coverage of Toy Fair 2013 is brought to you by the fine folks at Kokomo Toys!

Brian Truitt from USA Today and Director of Communications for Marvel Comics Arune Singh join the show to dive into the wonders of Toy Fair 2012 and break down the latest and greatest G.I. Joe news and information!

Arune gives us some great insight into the relationships between fan and company and enlightens us as to some challenges of comic book publishing, which also ties directly into toy production.  Plus he and Brian both geek out about some of Hasbro’s new toy offerings.  Check it out on our Podbean page, or listen via the embedded player below.

SHOW NOTES

Its the post Toy Fair 2012 edition of WOJM. Justin fills us in with what he saw and with what he talked with Hasbro about. Also joining us are Arune Singh, the Director of Communications for Marvel Comics and Brian Truitt from USA Today. Arune and Brian hang out with us for the session and give their thoughts on Toy Fair and the line going forward into Retaliation. We answer some listener mail concerning Justin’s psychic insight into the movie and another letter from a listener who has concerns about the cut back in articulation. In the news, the obvious discussion was about Toy Fair, but they also covered the surprising television ratings of the network TV debut of The Rise of Cobra on the USA Network. Lastly we cover the news of Jim Sorenson’s Joe animation model book. Its an episode chalked full of opinion of Toy Fair, so don’t miss it! Apologies for Chuck’s Time/Warner issues.
