Combing The Hub this week as a new episode of G.I. Joe: Renegades is slated to air Friday night, fellow Renegades fanatic kennywr22 alerted me to a “3 Day Weekend” promo running throughout The Hub’s prime time programming featuring a VERY short bit of new footage from the upcoming episode.
Really, nothing is revealed. It’s pretty much Roadblock kicking down a chain link fence, him and Tunnel Rat unloading on some unseen enemy, and a dude in glasses talking in a British accent. Of course, Major Bludd is supposedly appearing this week… could he have regained an eye and started wearing spectacles? Somehow I doubt it.
Anyway, check out the embedded video below. And for you Renegades haters, don’t worry, my Pursuit of Cobra figures are arriving tomorrow, so I’ll be giving them a healthy dose of love in the coming days as well.
I’ll admit, there isn’t a whole lot of new footage here, but when checking out The Hub this afternoon, there was an advertisement for the upcoming Hubworld “Sneak Peek” that airs this Friday starting at 3:30pm. This special show features a behind the scenes look at the creation of G.I. Joe: Renegades and Transformers Prime.
Again, not a whole lot of new footage, but some interesting pencil drawings and other snippets that folks looking forward to Renegades might enjoy. This has been added to the GeneralsJoes G.I. Joe Animation YouTube Channel.
Check out the embedded video below.
Along with this, I also added the IGN clip “Security Detail” to the channel as well.
The countdown continues… as the Hub’s Twitter Page has stated, only 59 days to go until the big debut of The Hub, and already the online home of the new Hasbro and Discovery co-owned channel is putting up some images and details of the upcoming animated series.
Of course, you can find the entry for G.I. Joe: Renegades right here. Details are below:
“Branded as renegades for crimes they did not commit, a heroic group of young G.I.s is forced to “turn fugitive” as they battle to clear their names, and expose the evil that is Cobra Industries — a seemingly benevolent mega-corporation covertly controlled by a rogues gallery intent on creating a New World Order.”

A big thanks to SNAKE EYES from HissTank.com for digging up the intel.
Yeah, I’m a little fired up over here. Can’t wait for G.I. Joe to hit the animated circuit again, and by all accounts, everyone involved has an accomplished resume in the field. I think the folks who are excited are going to be even more excited, and even some of the folks not so excited are gonna start getting turned around. Good stuff coming.
When I first saw the tweets from the Hub this morning, who was commenting from the Television Critics’ Association I had a feeling some news would be coming out today. Not a whole lot, but we got a great idea of some of the voice cast who will be speaking through some of our favorite characters! A huge thanks to Toy News International for getting this information out there.
Not only am I going to talk about who the revealed voice actors are, I’m gonna give my own .02 on who they might be playing, as well as a link to their current resume. So, here’s the run down: Lee Majors – Pretty self explanatory. A great resume, a surprise addition.
Famous Roles – The Six Million Dollar Man, Steve Austin. The Fall Guy.
Character Guess – General “Hawk” Abernathy. He has the age, he has the dignity and the attitude. I can’t see him playing anyone else.
Clancy Brown – A long and storied acting and voice acting career. If you’ve watched action cartoons over the past 10 years, you know the voice.
Famous Roles – Shawshank Redeption; Lex Luthor (in Superman and Justice League animated series)
Character Guess – Destro. He has that “holier than thou” corporate magnate flair. I would love to see this happen, I think he would make for an incredible James McCullen Destro.
Charlie Adler – Also has had a very long and illustrious career, and I can guarantee, nearly everyone reading this post has heard his voice.
Famous Roles – Cobra Commander, Gung Ho, Flint (G.I. Joe: Resolute); Starscream (Transformers, Revenge of the Fallen, Transformers: Prime); Dr. Doom (The Super Hero Squad Show)
Character Guess – Gotta be Cobra Commander. He did a fantastic job in Resolute as Cobra’s insidious leader, and it would be an awesome homage.
Jason Marsden – Not quite as well known as some of the other voice actors, but he’s definitely had a presence over the past number of years. Not quite as well known as his older brother James (Cyclops from the X-Men films)
Famous Roles – Firefly (The Batman)
Character Guess – Duke. Michael Bell’s early leaked comments reflected that fact, so this one is pretty much a known commodity.
Kevin Michael Richardson – Another name with a lot of voice acting experience, though you may not know him right off the tip of your tongue. He’s had a lot of great roles over the past several years.
Famous Roles – The Joker (The Batman); Bishop (Wolverine and the X-Men); L. Thompson Lincoln/Tombstone (The Spectacular Spider-Man); Nick Fury (The Superhero Squad)
Character Guess – Roadblock. He’s got the stature, he’s got the gravitas, and based on the characters he’s played, I think he would do a fantastic Roadblock.
Johnny Messner – Honestly, I had to look this one up. He’s had a long film career, mostly bit parts, and no real voice acting that I can find. Several CSI iterations, other television roles.
Famous Roles – Tears of the Sun, Anacondas: Hunt for the Blood Orchid
Character Guess – Not a clue, really. Flint perhaps?
This is sounding like a fantastic line up. Majors, Brown, Adler, and Richardson already have me fired up. These are guys we’ve heard in cartoons for a long time who have a lot of experience and bring some great talent to the table. Renegades is looking better by the day.
Okay, I have a confession to make. I love these Resolute toys. I really, really, REALLY love these Resolute toys. I know everyone labels me a Hasbro fanboy anyway, so that probably comes as no surprise to anyone, but my love for these Resolute toys goes beyond my normal love for the normal cool toys.
While I am fired up for the Pursuit of Cobra items and I love what I’m seeing there, too, for some reason the look and feel of G.I. Joe: Resolute just has me on cloud nine. It’s a little bitter sweet, because I’m not sure we’ll ever see anything else from this awesome Resolute universe, but if this is it, it’s a great last stand.
Granted, there were aspects of the Resolute story that certainly were not perfect, but the big drawing point were the designs, and seeing those designs translated into 3 3/4″ plastic form is absolutely awesome. So, of course, since I’m so ramped up, I couldn’t just stop at two reviews posted today… here are FOUR more. These are all linked at the G.I. Joe: Resolute Reviews Page, or you can check them out individually below:
So that’s a total of eight of the fourteen figures… I might even get the last six posted tomorrow. But I don’t want to shortchange my “Review-A-Rama” too much!
Anyway, check ’em out above.
