Mysterious Stranger Sideshow Collectibles report from ComicCon 2012

Good morning!  Some technical issues got in the way, but I have now posted a report from Mysterious Stranger, who was kind enough to travel to San Diego and cover ComicCon for GeneralsJoes.  As we know now there wasn’t much in the way of new information from Hasbro, but Sideshow Collectibles was on hand with two brand new figures to show off (The Baroness and Major Bludd) as well as in hand samples of some other upcoming figures like Snake Eyes and the Crimson Guard.

Mysterious Stranger took plenty of pictures and spoke with some Sideshow Collectibles representatives.

Additional details revealed for Sideshow Collectibles Major Bludd and Baroness

Big thanks to Kenny on Twitter who pointed us in the direction of this YouTube video from Hot Chix Cool Toy Reviews that spent some time talking to Sideshow during ComicCon, and got some great info on these upcoming G.I. Joe figures straight from the source!

According to Matt from Sideshow, The Baroness has multiple portraits as well as multiple removable glasses options, both really cool touches from the toy maker.  The G.I. Joe related content is at the 7:30 mark.  Check out the embedded video below.

ComicCon starts with a 1:6 scale sized BANG from Sideshow Collectibles!

It’s only preview night, but already we’re getting some G.I. Joe related intel hot off the presses!

Sideshow Collectibles has their booth rolling, and contained within are an incredible looking Baroness and Major Bludd!  The head sculpt and robotic arm on Bludd are especially bad ass, but Baroness is certainly no slouch either.  Both figures look amazing and are currently on display at booth #1929.

The folks over at HissTank.com have already begun posting images, and I’ve mirrored a few images from Sideshow on Twitter below as well.  I’ve got someone on site in San Diego who will be reporting back with his own share of intel and images as the weekend goes on.  You can check out HissTank’s images right here, and if anyone wants to send some others along, I’m listening!

A very quick inside look at upcoming Sideshow Major Bludd and Destro?

We have to consider this more rumor material, just because there has been no official word from Sideshow Collectibles, only a snippet of art from the introduction to their new Production Peek video.

The production peek itself focuses on the Lord of the Rings product line, but if you squint and look closely at the rotating artwork used for the intro, a nice picture of some potential design ideas for Major Bludd and Destro are present there.  Destro looks like he has a pretty new look, complete with his red collar, but with a much better textured shirt.  Major Bludd looks like he comes with removable missiles for his backpack as well.

Keep in mind these may just be dead concepts, but it’s still a very cool look into the production process.  The video is embedded below, and I’ve also screen grabbed a few images for a better look.  Big thanks to the eagle eyes of the Flag Points Podcast Twitter account for noticing this!

Teaser video for G.I. Joe: Initiate fanfilm sets the tone

I’ve been showcasing many of the images and details for the upcoming fanfilm, G.I. Joe: Initiate, and we also interviewed a key contributor, Fred Doss on the most recent episode of What’s on Joe Mind.  But all along the way, folks have been clamoring for some video.  Well, it’s not much, but the folks behind the film have posted a small teaser, just to set the tone.  With their Kickstarter project recently closed, and full funding achieved, they can now start full blown production on the project, and I’m sure a more elaborate teaser or trailer will be coming along.  Be sure you’ve “Liked” them on Facebook to keep up to date as well.

Until then, check out the short (but cool) teaser below, and even though their Kickstarter program has ended, you can still hit up GIJoeInitiate.com to donate via PayPal and help this ambitious project succeed.  I’m looking forward to the end result!
