G.I. Joe: War on COBRA brings Gung Ho to the roster

G.I. Joe: War on COBRA brings Gung Ho to the roster

Well, technically he’s always been on the roster, but not until you reach Tier 5, which is a veeerrry steep hill to climb (I’m on 3 currently).

Coming to the next event in the G.I. Joe: War on COBRA mobile game is Gung Ho! With Gung Ho on the COBRA side of the fence are the Shrike drones.

I’ve gotta be honest here– I am LOVING this game so far, even though I missed my shot at COBRA Commander a few events back… beyond that small frustration, the events are fun, the character models are great, and it really feels like you’re playing in the G.I. Joe sandbox. I hope to provide a more in depth review some point soon.

If you like what you see, go download the game now!

Zartan comes to G.I. Joe: War on Cobra

Zartan comes to G.I. Joe: War on Cobra

G.I. Joe: War on Cobra hit mobile devices everywhere on January 20th, and I have to admit, I’ve had a blast during the first 10 days. I find it pretty low maintenance and very subtle in its strategies, and has been a fun distraction in its first two weeks of release. There are enough tie-ins to the G.I. Joe universe and enough gaming dynamics to keep me interested.

There are some interesting complexities, but a relatively simple approach. I’m really enjoying it.

Now, Zartan is joining the fight! Hot of the heels of the Roadblock/Baroness event, there is a special Zartan event where completing certain tasks and challenges earns you a chance to unlock the Cobra Master of Disguise! I won’t lie, the Events format is… challenging, and I’m not sure I’m a big fan. You basically have to accomplish various game-based tasks which earn you event coins that you spend in an event store to randomly pull event related items.

It’s not a bad format, except that even completing all of the event tasks doesn’t necessarily give you enough event coins to purchase everything in the event store. I’m sure there are some other strategies involved, but for now, I’ll have to play it by ear.

Anyway… Zartan looks pretty awesome. 😀

G.I. Joe: War on COBRA Launches a Sneak Attack

What can I say, I’m a sucker for G.I. Joe licensed media and the latest one to have me captivated is War on COBRA.

First, a disclaimer – G.I. Joe: War on COBRA has not been officially announced or revealed by Hasbro or anyone affiliated. It is currently only available to certain international locations, and appears to be Android only (so far).  Also, this is likely a beta version of the game, so chances that it’s compatible with any of your devices are slim.

However, G.I. Joe: Battlegrounds started out the same way several years back, so I have no reason to believe War on COBRA won’t be more widely available very shortly. I will say, thanks to an Android emulator on my trusty Surface Pro laptop, I’ve had a chance to play it quite a bit over the past twenty-four hours and it is a ton of fun. Gameplay is very similar to stuff like Command and Conquer: Rivals or Clash of Clans, with some interesting animated design and cartoon-like explosions. Lots of vintage throwbacks (Devilfish and the Skystorm helicopter to name a few) and I think there is some really fun potential to be had here.
