Put the kids to bed – uncensored Kevin Michael Richardson interview posted!

A short while ago, myself and my compatriots with the What’s on Joe Mind podcast had the unquestionable pleasure to sit down and interview Kevin Michael Richardson.  Fans of animation know this fellow’s work very well.  His recent role as Roadblock in G.I. Joe: Renegades is of course what brought him to our podcast, but he currently provides voices for Panthro in Thundercats, Bulkhead in Transformers: Prime, Kilowog in Green Lantern, as well as Cleveland Jr. on the Cleveland Show.  This guy is literally in everything.

As usual when we talk to folks in the industry, we don’t always know what to expect…  but I can say without hesitation that Mr. Richardson was one of the funniest and nicest guys we’ve ever had a chance to speak with, and we’ve spoken to a lot of folks over the past year.

But he also has the mouth of a sailor!  We loved it, and had an absolute blast during the interview, but feel it necessary to warn those with sensitive ears that he’s not afraid to drop some bombs.  We will be posting a more family friendly edited version along with episode 48 very shortly, but this guy was so hilarious that we just had to get an unedited version of the interview up, too, because we knew many fans would love it.  So, big props to Gary for getting this posted on a Friday afternoon, and without further hesitation, hit up our Facebook Page or click the link below to have a listen.  We guarantee you don’t want to miss this one!

Guest Article from Twitziller – Fewer Poses May Require Hand Support

When I saw GeneralsJoes friend Twitziller post about an experiment using specialized magnets to post and display his G.I. Joe figures, I knew immediately that I wanted to showcase this information on GeneralsJoes.

An ingenious idea, and I’m very happy that he has taken the time to write this guest article for the site.  Big thanks to Twitziller, if you don’t already follow him on Twitter, you definitely should, he’s funny and he supplies some great G.I. Joe conversation.  Check this great article out below.

Stand by Me

G.I. Joe fan loves to display their figures and, since 1983, we’ve been able to do so with the assistance of Hasbro’s display stands. First available in the Battle Gear Accessory Packs of the 1980s ARAH line, the first stand was a simple rounded rectangle of plastic featuring one peg that fit tightly into the peg hole in the heel of almost every figure. This stand then became a standard accessory for single-packed figures from the early 1990s through the early 2000s, before being retired during the “New-Sculpt Era”…

Some insane insight into new Snake Eyes design from Robert Atkins

Even if you’re not an IDW fan, I really hope you’re spending some time at Robert Atkin’s blog, because he has been knocking it out of the park recently with some great insight and preview artwork for his upcoming stint on Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow.  But as good as his posts have been, they almost pale in comparison to what he released today.

Again, this is all from a comic artist point of view, but this is an amazing look into the process of designing a G.I. Joe character and it’s pretty astounding just how much thought and behind the scenes detail work goes into it.   Atkins spends two fairly long blog posts going into pretty much every angle and every part of the inspiration for the updated uniform for Snake Eyes in the IDW comic.  Part G.I. Joe: Resolute, part G.I. Joe: Renegades, and part real world military, Atkins does some incredible documenting of the build up to this Snake Eyes design.

It is really, really awesome.  Even if you’re not big into comics, or big into IDW, this is the kind of thought process that most folks use when creating these figures, and I cannot thank Robert enough for spending some time outlining it.  Some great art, some great ideas, and it’s really terrific seeing the process fleshed out like this.

Some familiar voice talent up for year end awards

Behind the Voice Actors has ann0unced their nominees for the annual awards, and several names you recognize are on the list!  In my mind, the top prospect would have to be Kevin Michael Richardson who was fantastic as Roadblock in G.I. Joe: Renegades, but you can also find Steve Blum (Duke from G.I. Joe: Resolute), Grey Delisle (Scarlett, Baroness, Cover Girl & Dial Tone from G.I. Joe: Resolute), Nolan North (Snow Job from G.I. Joe: Renegades), and Corey Burton (Tomax from G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, Law from G.I. Joe: Renegades).

As I’ve done different interviews with these folks for the What’s on Joe Mind podcast, I’ve gained a huge amount of respect for them, and would love to see some of my readers return that with some votes!

Check out all of the nominees right here, and thanks to Optimus Solo for the information.
