Details revealed of the 2104 G.I. Joe Convention Custom Class

Those of us who were lucky enough to score a ticket to the official custom class for the 2014 G.I. Joe convention have been eagerly anticipating word of what the custom figure might be and what parts we should bring.

Well the G.I. Joe Convention Facebook page broke the news yesterday, and I gotta tell you, I’m pretty excited.

The custom character is slated to be “Chef” and at the show will be cast heads for 30th Anniversary Lifeline, a modified Firefly torso, and a plethora of 3D printed accessories, including some “Honey-Do House Bat” weapon attachments.  Pretty cool.

To give folks an idea of what the recipe might look like, check out the images below, and then click the “Read More” link to get the entire run down of this year’s custom class.

Keep following GIJoeCon on Facebook as well for more details!

G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club announces 2013 Convention Parachute Drop… with KRE-ONS!

This press release hit my email box this morning, with the G.I. Joe Collectors Club officially announcing the parachute drop for the 2013 G.I. Joe Convention in Indianapolis!  One key surprise was immediately evident.  The parachute figure this year will be a KRE-ON.

For those of us who are into Kre-O sets and figures this is a pretty cool twist, although I will say part of me was looking forward to a typical 4″ G.I. Joe parachute figure as well.  Regardless, it will be very interesting to see what the Collectors’ Club has up their sleeve for Kre-O at JoeCon this year.

G.I. Joe Collectors Club posts 2013 JoeCon Schedule of Events

Need to plan your convention experience?  Well, the G.I. Joe Collectors Club has just made it a whole lot easier.  They’ve posted the schedule for the 2013 G.I. Joe Convention right here.  Featuring a lot of the great panels you’ve come to expect from Hasbro, the voice actors, Larry Hama and Kirk Bozigian, this year they’ve also branched out some.

Dave Tree is travelling over from the UK to do a Palitoy Action Force seminar and there’s What’s on Joe Mind Live–…

Wait.  What?

Dammit Godsoe, you never tell me anything!

Check out the full Convention Schedule right here.

Carded Iceberg to be available at 2013 G.I. Joe Convention

I think most of us assumed this as it was, but if not, the GIJoeCon FAQ just did.

They posted some updated answers to the FAQ yesterday, and included in those answers was the following tidbit:

“Question: Will the 3 3/4-inch Iceberg figure be available for club members to buy on a 25th card at the convention like Footloose was in 2012?

Answer:
Yes, a limited number will be for sale at the convention.”

One now wonders when we might see the first images of the 2013 Iceberg…  I’ve been so caught up in Convention coverage I hadn’t even thought to wonder.  Perhaps after registration goes live.

Please be sure you’re checking the GIJoeCon FAQ at every opportunity.  A lot of the questions you might have are answered there, including the dreaded “Why is Cobra Mortal not chrome?”  Click here to read for yourself.

Final members of Cobra Demolition team revealed for 2013 Nocturnal Fire Con set

I think many of us were expecting the SAW Viper to be the last reveal, but the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club surprised us,showcasing the last two members of the Cobra Demolition Team!  Not just the SAW Viper trooper that will come three deep, but also the new Crimson Asp character.

Interestingly enough, “Crimson” Asp isn’t all that Crimson, but she is clearly aligned with Letal and the Frag-Vipers based on the uniform color and the nice grenade launcher she sports.  With a mixture of 25th Anniversary Baroness, Scarlett, and Resolute Scarlett (not to mention a new head sculpt) the Crimson Asp looks like a very interesting addition to the South American Cobra hierarchy.

Meanwhile the SAW Vipers heavily borrow from City Strike Destro and Iron Grenadier, using what appears to be the upper body, the arms, and the body armor.  The awesome thing about the body armor is they fill in the holes with knives (and sheaths) and a radio instead of the shoulder armor and gun rig.  Very nice touch.  The DTC helmet is a bit of a surprise (and it’s likely the unreleased Law & Order balaclava head sculpt underneath) and the color scheme is just a touch monotone,  but still a very cool combination.

The Cobras are plenty colorful, which is awesome in my eyes, and this set is shaping up VERY nicely.  Bring on Repeater, Spearhead, and HIT & FREAKING RUN.  Check out GIJoeCon.com or the mirrored images below.
