More G.I. Joe questions answered by Sideshow Collectibles

Big thanks to GeneralsJoes contributor Mysterious Stranger for giving me a virtual “slap upside the head” for some missed details on the Sideshow Collectibles Q & A this morning.  While I focused on the two questions that appeared on Tuesday’s slate, I missed the question that had been posed on Monday, and now, we also have a new question for today as well.  Heck, they even posted a question from way back in August that I think I might have missed.  Many fans (myself included) will be extremely pleased with what Sideshow revealed in Monday’s Q & A:

I would like to know if some of these characters are in your plans for the 12-inch G.I. Joe line: Strato Viper, 1986 Viper, Cross Country, SciFi, Xamot & Tomax. Please say yes about Xamot & Tomax at least!

The 1986 Viper is getting the 12-inch treatment for a fact, and the twins are good possibilities (but a little further down the road).”

Yes, Sideshow has revealed that they will be doing a 12″ Cobra Viper.  ROCK.  As for their other details…

Pump out more 1/6 scale Joes!

What a coincidence, we just had a meeting to look at the next 5 Joes, all mocked up and studly. Some greatness is coming, let me tell ya! Jungles, deserts, and marine environments should be well protected. ;)”
Is a Blowtorch or Barbecue a character that Sideshow will consider realistic enough for 1/6th scale G.I. Joe? -AND- I really wanted to say that you guys are doing an awesome job on GI JOE. I just got the Cobra Throne, and it is easily the most startling item in my collection. And I’m looking forward to more of them. I have to ask, with the real world twist you apply to each character, will Joes that have bright colors like Blowtorch (a personal favorite of mine) be on your list? I’m curious how you’d adjust the colors.

Blowtorch made it to our planning, but has yet to find a ‘locked’ position in our development track. Our Creative Director, Tom Gilliland, has a serious soft spot for Blowtorch, thanks to his time working for Toys ‘R Us back in 1984/5/6. There was a kid that came every day to the store asking for Blowtorch, and one day, Tom was finally able to connect that kid with his long-sought-after figure, and it left a strong impression on Tom.”

So there you have it.  We should be all covered.  Chill the hell out, Stranger.

Are you a member of the Tri-State Vipers? You want to be.

Vintage o-ring figures are become tough to come by these days, so I like to take whatever chance I can to get my hands on them.  Well, all you need right now is to be a member of the Tri-State Vipers regional message board.  Designed as a community forum for folks in the Tri-State area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut), the boards have formed a great group of guys and girls who get together on a regular basis and enjoy the world of G.I. Joe.
Well, as a treat to members of the forum, as well as a way to earn some cash for board and site improvements, the folks at Tri-State also teamed up with NomadCustoms to produce a special exclusive figure, the Tri-State Viper!  I was lucky enough to get my hands on a pair of these, thanks to the guys over there, and I’ve reviewed the figure right here!
But what you really want to know…  how do you get one?  Check out the forum here, and also take a look at the guidelines below:
Please read the following rules and conditions:
* A donation of $20 is necessary in order to have a figure put aside for you. All proceeds go directly back into the board for future endeavors.
* A figure is not guaranteed until payment is sent!
* The figure is limited to one per member, while supplies last!
* You will not be guaranteed a figure until we receive your donation.
* From now until April 12th, ONLY members who have been a part of the board prior to 2010 will be able to pre-order. Starting on April 12th, the pre-orders will be open to everyone who’s a member of the board.
* To purchase your figure please send a pm to crimsonguardvet76. You MUST include in the pm whether you intend to pic up the figure at the G.I. Joe convention in Rhode Island or if you would prefer it mailed to you.
* Crimsonguardvet76 will then reply with payment information and the PayPal address.
* The figures will be making their premiere at the G.I. Joe convention in Rhode Island! Members who wish to pick up the figure at the con must have first pre-ordered the figure. Payments will not be accepted at the con!
Anyone who cannot make the con will have their figures mailed out to them after the con has concluded. Shipping will be via Priority Mail (approx. $5–international rates will apply), so that shipping cost will have to be tacked onto the $20 figure fee.

GIJoeCon.com updated with box art and group shot! Attendee exclusive RHINO Copter?

The G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club has updated their Convention website, GIJoeCon.com with the box art for the upcoming Crimson Strike Team Convention set as well as a group shot.  Click here to check out the update.

Most important item to note is that a crimson repaint of the RHINO helicopter is featured heavily on the box art which might indicate that it serves as the attendee exclusive this year.

Thanks to cmdrinchief of the Coil Club and JoeBattleLines for the information.

Flashback Review Update – COBRA 5-Pack #3

Once again, BigBadToyStore comes through with sponsoring another “Flashback Review” this time around, for the second COBRA 5-Pack with COBRA Commander, Storm Shadow, the Baroness, Zartan, and COBRA Viper.

Is it as good as the Joe one?  Is it worth buying at all?  Check out the review right here!  Also, stay tuned as the Rise of COBRA street date looms…BBTS will be sponsoring all my new reviews as well, so expect an onslaught once those hit retail!

High Res Hall of Heroes images at The Terror Drome

HissCommander from TheTerrorDrome.com has posted some very nice high resolution images from the Hall of Heroes series.  While the figures don’t excite me much due to the repetition of parts use and character over-abundance, I gotta say the packaging is freaking beautiful.  It’s tempting to drop some green on them just for the cards alone…very nice.

Anyway, check out the pictures here.
