The Repacked Podcast talks G.I. Joe vs. Transformers with Justin and Benson!

Here’s another podcast to add to your “listen” pile! Last week I spent some time with Craig “The Scream Man” Moore and Benson “BWTF” Yee to talk about the latest Transformers film (kind of) but more importantly to spin that out to how a G.I. Joe vs. Transformers film franchise could work. And even better, should it even be attempted? Benson, a devoted and diehard Transformers fan brings some awesome stuff to the table, while Craig and I just try to keep up.

It was a lot of fun to record, and I think fans of both franchises should give it a listen.

Check it out at RepackedPodcast.com! Teaser poster below courtesy of CinemasComics.com.

What’s on Joe Mind Episode 95 is online! We talk about it all in this one

I know a lot of folks have been commenting that we don’t record new episodes nearly as often as we used to… but the good side of that is, when we do, they end up being 3+ hour marathons covering all sorts of different topics! Episode 95 certainly falls into that category, talking Boss Fight Studio, the late Don Levine with business partner Kirk Bozigian, and voice actor Michael Dobson. Expect the same level of back and forth blather, and relive the excitement of the final 36 hours of the Vitruvian HACKS Kickstarter campaign.

Listen to the latest episode on Podbean.com or embedded below and check out the Show Notes after the jump.

Darkness Falls Episode 16 – Steel on Steel is online!

Like it or not, ninjas are a big piece of G.I. Joe lore, and in this installment of Darkness Falls, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, and Scarlett take the edged weapon fight straight down Cobra’s throat.  As Black Dragon and the Night Creepers scramble to distance themselves from the quickly scattering Cobra forces, they run into a determined trio of G.I. Joe operatives…  what happens next will shock you!

First look at 50th Anniversary Leatherneck on YoJoe.com!

Joining his “Eagle’s Edge” 3 Pack partner, there’s a new “first look” for the upcoming 50th Anniversary Leatherneck figure over on YoJoe.com!

The work on the reviews for upcoming 50th Anniversary figures continues, with much thanks to community champion Gary “Gyre Viper” Goggles, who has so very generously sent along some early production samples for review.

Leatherneck is based on the G.I. Joe: Retaliation “Battle Kata Roadblock” tooling and wears those parts exceptionally well.

A full review will be coming next week, but until then, enjoy a first look on YoJoe.

G.I. Joe: Battleground finishes off Arise Maximus Arise Trilogy!

This has been a really fun sounding series of events as G.I. Joe: Battleground launches Arise, Maximus Arise Part 3! Any event that dabbles in the Valor Vs. Venom universe is all good in my eyes!

Emboldened by their recent victories under the powerful V-troop overlord, and goaded by a meddling Cobra Commander who sees profit in chaos, prominent Cobra agents launch terror operations across the globe! A bruised-but-unbeaten G.I. JOE team races to meet them, but are any Joes capable of dealing with the impressive first-strike and combat capabilities of Cobra’s Supreme Ninja Master, the Night Creeper Leader? And how can you fight an assassin who can take the form of your own allies…? Zarana is out there…

Battle it out in the exciting conclusion to the three-part “Arise, Maximus, Arise” event series with today’s Global Warfare event, on now!

First look at 50th Anniversary Destro at YoJoe.com!

A big thanks to enthusiastic G.I. Joe fan Gary “Gyre Viper” Goggles who was able to get his hands on some early samples of the G.I. Joe: 50th Anniversary product and was kind enough to send it along! I’ll be working on reviews throughout the weekend to be posted next week, but until then, I’ve posted a little sneak peek at the 50th Anniversary Destro on YoJoe.com!

Feel free to ask questions and I’ll try to answer them as best I can as I work towards getting reviews ready to be posted.

Enjoy!

Looks like Jon Chu involvement with G.I. Joe 3 still a possibility

Many Hollywood news outlets have reported (or seem to be assuming) that G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon Chu is definitely “out” of the director’s chair for the third G.I. Joe film. While I would agree there are many signs that indicate this, Jon Chu himself reports that there is still a chance he will be working on the third Joe film.

Facebook has released a new app entitled “Mentions” which is geared towards celebrities and businesses, and last night, Chu participated in a Q & A through his Facebook page. There were many innocuous questions, but a few questions did emerge about the status of G.I. Joe 3. Chu’s responses got my attention:

01

By the sounds of that Facebook response, he still has a chance of being attached to G.I. Joe 3, as long as the timing is right. Sure, this could be PR talk, but it sounds like the door is at least partway open. Further down in the conversation, he is still speaking about G.I. Joe and posts the following:

02

Could he be referencing certain “compromises” with G.I. Joe: Retaliation? Compromises like trying to resolve the first film? Compromises like Duke’s death? Regardless, it was interesting to see Chu open up a little bit about his current status with G.I. Joe 3 and keep that door open. I for one hope it remains open, because I feel like Chu honestly loves the world and wants to do right by it.

Time will tell.

Confusion abounds regarding SDCC “Danger at the Docks”

Okay, just when we thought we had it all figured out, thanks to TRU.com, there seems to be more confusion now about exactly how the “Danger at the Docks” SDCC Exclusive 50th Anniversary set will be available.

Over on ToyArk.com a Press Release from Toys “R” Us was revealed, and within the context of that press release, there seems to be an indication that the “Danger at the Docks” G.I. Joe set will NOT be available in Toys “R” Us stores. This has caused some confusion because it’s been pretty widely reported (mostly by me) that this set would not strictly be sold at ComicCon itself.

As it turns out, the most likely result is both stories are true.

Previously there was a Faker/Bizarro 2-Pack from Mattel that was an SDCC Exclusive, but was also available at ToysRUs.com, but was NOT actually in brick & mortar stores. It sounds like that is likely what’s going to happen here. Considering TRU.com themselves has advertised that the Danger at the Docks set will be available online after ComicCon, but they’re also listing it as “Available Only at San Diego Comic-Con” in this latest press release, this sounds like the most likely result.

According to folks I’ve spoken with, the Faker/Bizarro 2 Pack was not especially difficult to get after ComicCon, and certainly far easier than dealing with Hasbro Toy Shop, but at the end of the day, I’d say if you want the Danger at the Docks set, be prepared to jump on it on TRU.com and don’t sit and wait for it to show up at Brick & Mortar. Thankfully SDCC is right around the corner and our long, national nightmare shall soon be over. Check out the full text of the Press Release after the Jump.
