Transformers Club Exclusive with a G.I. Joe theme confirmed for reveal Thursday 8/14

When the Transformers Club mentioned on Twitter that they were going to reveal an exclusive item that would “send shockwaves across fandoms” I think we all assumed that it would be some sort of G.I. Joe/Transformers offering. Well, that certainly seems to be the case, as the Transformers Collectors Club posted the following on their website:

Our second Club exclusive will be revealed on Thursday, August 14th. This figure is like nothing the TCC has ever offered before and next Thursday can’t get here soon enough! This is not your average Joe’s kind of exclusive though, as it will reach fans from more than one franchise! Who is this mystery second exclusive? Stay tuned and while you wait, if you are not a TCC member YET, head on over to the Club store and purchase your membership TODAY! Don’t wait…Join Now

“Not your average Joe’s kind of exclusive”? Heh.

Anyway, they are apparently going to officially announce this exciting new item next Thursday, August 14th, so by the sounds of it, both Transformers and G.I. Joe fans should be anticipating something new and exciting to come to the Transformers Collectors Club in 2015.

Speculation GO.

EDIT – Okay, time to really cue up the speculation.  Thanks to a Russell, a member of the Facebook G.I. Joe Discussion group, there is yet another post on the August 5th reveal of the Transformers Collectors Club site that says the following:

Also, in addition to offering the TFSS 3.0 (more details on that soon), members will have the option to purchase not one, but TWO additional MEMBER ONLY exclusive figures! One will be a companion piece to LIO CONVOY, and the other… well, the other is like nothing we have done before and will rattle more than just the Transformers fandom!

Okay…  it will “rattle” more than just the Transformers fandom?  Certainly seems like this may be a dead give away.  Powerglide A-10 in Cobra blue perhaps?  That certainly seems the most likely candidate.

Now this could be the upcoming Legends scale version, or could it even be the Ultra version from several years ago?  Hmmm… either one could be interesting, though the Voyager could be especially impressive (and expensive)!

G.I. Joe: Battleground Event “The Serpent Writhes”!

The Joes, shaken by the events simulated (or, perhaps, foreseen) by WarSim, have no choice but to once again enter Mainframe’s ultimate training simulator. This time, they find themselves in a newly-rebuilt Pit, but the moment they “arrive” the alarms go off—Cobra is attacking!

Under the cover of a full-scale frontal assault, Zartan and Storm Shadow infiltrate the Pit and wreak absolute havoc! Their goal is anyone’s guess, but as Zartan impersonates a seemingly endless parade of friends-turned-enemies, Storm Shadow makes his steady, deadly way towards their objective…

Can G.I. JOE’s best operatives—bolstered by Elite agents Dojo, Firewall, and Helix—repel the Cobra attack? What could cause The Enemy to mount such a bold attack on the headquarters of their greatest foes? Find out what happens when “The Serpent Writhes,” the exciting Takedown Event on now!

GeneralsJoes Reviews Revolmini “Micro” Solid Snake

Many folks have been waiting and watching for information about the Revolmini line, which promises a new take on some familiar characters, in a scale closely matching what most G.I. Joe fans love.

Just last week, Big Bad Toy Store got the first Micro figure in stock, and it’s non other than Metal Gear Solid’s main protagonist, Solid Snake, a fact that made me quite happy.  Needless to say, I bought it, and I’ve now posted a review in my Miscellaneous Reviews section.

IDW Publishing previews ashcan for G.I. Joe Season 4 #1

The next iteration of IDW Publishing’s main G.I. Joe title is set to launch again in September, promising a dramatic new look at the G.I. Joe universe. It’s a world where Cobra is seen as a legitimate security force and G.I. Joe has been drastically downsized.

Karen Traviss joins Steve Kurth on the reigns of G.I. Joe, and we get a glimpse at this new world that we’ll be seeing.

IDW has previewed the ashcan on their Facebook page, I’ve mirrored just a couple of the images below. Check out Facebook for the rest!

GeneralsJoes Reviews 50th Anniversary Danger at the Docks (SDCC)

Continuing the momentum from my previous early 50th Anniversary reviews, I have now posted an exhaustive look at the Danger at the Docks San Diego ComicCon exclusive set!

It’s broken down into two reviews, one for the Night Landing with Eel and one for the VAMP with Flint.  Included in the review is a rundown of every single accessory that comes with the foot locker and exactly what changed with each weapon (or if they stayed the same).

Coil Con V is right around the corner – September 13th, 2014!

COIL Con V is just six weeks away! To help prepare for the big day, we’ve enlisted the help of Justin and General’s Joes to help make the big reveals of our COIL Con Exclusives!

This year’s set will continue in the popular “COIL Strikes” theme, where we pit one COIL agent against an agent from one of its many rival factions. Last year’s set saw the COIL’s Naja Bhoot racing through the streets of Mumbai against special law enforcement agent Street Hawk, and 2012 had Zilant fighting against G.I Joe’s Dodger in the skies over Eastern Europe. This year, the COIL Strikes the United Kingdom… meet their newest agent, Shrike!

Shrike_Master_Coil_Con_V_Watermark

Shrike is the creation of veteran COIL designers Jay Hunger and Brian Kauffman and the first figure in the two-figure set which will be available only at COIL Con! Jay was also responsible for Sidewinder, the 2011 exclusive figure, and the 2012 figures. There will be 40 two-figure sets available at COIL Con V, and Justin has agreed to help us with the reveal of figure #2 as we get closer to the day of the show.

As mentioned earlier, COIL Con V will take place from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday, September 13. This year’s convention has moved indoors to the Indianapolis Wyndham hotel. For anyone thinking of making the trip in from out of town, it’s mere minutes from the Indianapolis airport and there are rooms available with a special Convention rate ($99/night) for Friday and Saturday night.

Be sure to check out the club’s site, www.coilcon.com, and the COIL Con Facebook page in the comng weeks for more information!
