Today the Collectors Club has posted their last 2016 G.I. Joe Convention reveal with none other than Static Line from Sky Patrol!
A fantastic looking figure with a nice new head and great parts formula. It would have been nice for the helmet to be removable, but even as it stands, the figure is really impressive. Check out GIJoeCon.com or take a peek at the mirrored image below.
Picking up right where they left off on Friday, the G.I. Joe Collectors Club has revealed two more figures from their 2016 G.I. Joe Convention today! The Cobra Black Vulture and Sky Patrol member Drop Zone were both shown off on GIJoeCon.com.
I’m a bit mixed. I LOVE most of Black Vulture’s part, but that head seems to be sitting very high on the neck. Hopefully it’s not that bad in its final form because the rest of the figure is an absolute home run. I may try the Renegades Cobra Trooper head on the Accelerator Suit body myself to see if it really fits that high. From the neck down, the figure is truly spectacular.
As for Drop Zone, he looks pretty good. I was never a huge fan of the Strato Viper figure with its scrawny limbs and clunky joints, but I am glad to see that at least the arms have been swapped out for what looks like Retaliation Storm Shadow. That is a HUGE improvement, even if I’m still not wild about Strato-knees. Drop Zone looks a little Photoshopped, too, and appears skinnier than he likely is in real life.
All in all, I’m exceedingly happy with what I’ve seen from the Con set reveals to date. We still have Static Line left to go, and here’s hoping he’s got a new head, since new parts appear to be pretty sparse thus far.
Check out GIJoeCon.com for the latest, and these new images are mirrored below.
It’s been a little while since the first shipment of the latest Figure Subscription Service figures hit mailboxes, and while my review time was interrupted for a short bit due to Vitruvian HACKS, I have now completed reviews for the first two figures, Law & Order and Nunchuk.
As an added bonus, I’ve also worked up video reviews of them both as well, just to cover all bases.
While there has been no official formal announcement that I’m aware of, it would appear as if Prime 1 Studios as acquired the license to produce statues based on the G.I. Joe brand, likely within the 1/3 or 1/4 scale.
Prime 1 is currently working with several other licenses, including Warner Brother’s Batman vs. Superman, the Michael Bay Transformers universe, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, just to name a few.
Details are not forthcoming as of yet, but in a Prime 1 Collectors Facebook group Kevin Loke (who appears to work for the company) made the announcement and has solicited some input as to which characters collectors would like to see.
You can see the screen capture of his announcement below, and you can find the Facebook group right here. Curiously, he states that the license “is confirmed” but I know I have not yet seen it announced anywhere. Maybe I missed it, or maybe the news is still to come.
Time will tell, and hopefully what we see from Prime 1 proves more sustainable than some previous entries into the statuary market have been.
Now, obviously until we hear this confirmed by Hasbro, it must be treated as rumor, but there certainly seems to be some truth to it. Big thanks to YT74 on Twitter for the news.
While I’ve dabbled in the world of video reviews a little bit, I’m going to try and make a concerted effort to do more going forward. I know for Transformers especially, the video format can work better to show transformation, etc…
To that end, I’ve posted a three part video review featuring the latest Transformers: Masterpiece figure from Takara: MP-28 Hot Rodimus.
The three part review is broken into a look at the box and car, the transformation, and the robot mode. Check out my YouTube page, and see the videos embedded below.

The reveals continue on a Friday night, with the G.I. Joe Collectors Club giving us our first look at the upcoming Sky Patrol Airwave and A.D.D.E.R.S. trooper, Cobra Air Devil.
Air Devil looks pretty spectacular, and I absolutely LOVE that red and black color scheme. Airwave looks to be mostly made from Pursuit of Cobra Ripcord/Skydive, which is cool with me, that figure is pretty great. Check out GIJoeCon.com for the latest, and the images are mirrored below. At this point, we should have three reveals left – Drop Zone, Static Line, and Cobra Black Vulture! Bring ’em on.
I’m still working on getting the reviews done for the new Vitruvian HACKS Blanks figures, but until I do, I’ve seen a few people curious about how their scale matches up with similar lines.
I’ve posted a couple of images below showing just that. A comparison with Marvel figures and G.I. Joe figures specifically. Keep watching, the Blanks review will hopefully be up next week.
The hits just keep on coming today! Registration has just been announced and now we have two brand spanking new figure reveals. Sky Patrol Sgt. “Airborne” Six comes at us alongside the long requested Cobra Flying Scorpion!
Flying Scorpion was initially a Brazilian release (Escorpaio Voador) using Cesspool’s head and other mixed parts, released alongside Black Vulture (Abutre Negro) who is also slated to come with this Con set.
The two reveals today look pretty spectacular. Loving the new head sculpt and urban camouflage on Airborne (and is that a Retaliation Firefly torso… great use!), and I love that Flying Scorpion comes with the Pursuit of Cobra jetpack. GREAT looking figures!

There were times I wasn’t sure this was going to come together this week. Every time I thought I was done with images, I came up with something else, which is a testament to just how feature packed and revolutionary these action figures are. Whether you’re a Greek Mythology fan, or a customizer, there is a LOT to love in almost every part of these spectacular figures.
I have posted reviews for all the character based toys now (the Blanks are coming soon). Check the links below for all the review action. I have posted a quick dio-story in the “Overview” section, so don’t skip it! 🙂
