Hasbro Pulse goes behind the scenes with Missile Command Center

The Hasbro Pulse website has posted a pretty awesome behind the scenes talk with G.I. Joe product designer Bobby Vala, which explores some of the thought and work that went into the ComicCon exclusive Missile Command Center!  This is some great insight and has some awesome pictures showing some of the different steps Vala took to get to the awesome finished product so many Joe fans were grateful to finally receive after decades of lusting after the original online.

Check out the Hasbro Pulse article right here and huge props to Hasbro, our buddy Fred from JoeBattleLines and Bobby Vala for sharing some of the trade secrets with us.  Great stuff!

“Guardians of the elven queen, members of this elite corps of archers bathe daily in dark ink, to maintain the gray color of their skin. Taking their orders directly from Queen Solan, they are her protectors and personal assassins. As a part of their duties to the queen, they take on an oath of silence. Their voices are removed permanently and irreversibly, using a magical spell. Their eyes have been altered so that they can see in pitch blackness. Moving undetectably and noiselessly, their natural home is in the dark. The last thing many an enemy of the Elves has felt is the cold blade of a Sakura Elf, silently draining their life away.”

GeneralsJoes wraps up 2017 Convention Reviews

And that’s a wrap.  It always feels like the annual convention reviews are a sprint, with coordinating all of the images, the Photoshopping, the organizing and the page layouts, and then by the time the whirlwind week is over, there’s a feeling of some sort of satisfaction.

I have to be honest, though, I didn’t feel a whole lot of satisfaction with this one.  Ultimately, most of the figures and vehicles felt underserved and overpriced, which is unfortunate.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s great that the Collectors Club is able to put together these figures for a fanbase that has no other outlet currently, but in looking back even to just 2015 the blatant and obvious degradation of quality is a shame.  There were some highlights last year with Sky Patrol, several of them in fact, but this year everything felt pretty run-of-the-mill with very few exciting surprises.  I felt there was a handful of serviceable figures that did the source material right, but there really was nothing that surprised, impressed, or blew me away.  Perhaps I’m asking too much given the limited tooling supplies and resources available, but when the Club is asking nearly $1,000 for a set of exclusives, I gotta say, I expect more.

Anyway…  the last three reviews can be viewed below:

Joe DeClassified Booth at the Edmonton Expo was beyond awesome

This past weekend was the Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo, which featured a terrific appearance by the fine folks at JoeDeClassified.

They posted a wealth of amazing art and pre-production items, and provided some images for folks to check out, even those of us who couldn’t attend.

Check out all of the images over on the JoeDeClassified Facebook Page, I’ve mirrored just a couple of them below.

Amazing Prime One Studio Destro statue now available for pre-order

There isn’t a whole lot of new G.I. Joe product to captivate fans these days, but high end statue maker Prime One Studios has some pretty fantastic looking items coming out, including an amazing statue of Destro, the enemy weapons supplier.

These pieces aren’t cheap, but they’d make for a great conversation piece, and Destro is now available for Pre-Order at Sideshow Collectibles.  Check out some of the images below.

Marauder Task Force Exo-Suit, K-9, and Contract Ops Kickstarter succeeds!

What a final day for the latest Marauder Kickstarter!  I was already intrigued by this Kickstarter at launch, merely because the Exo-Suit looked so cool, and I was definitely on the hook for a few of the Contract Ops figures.

The K-9 ended up impressing me more than I thought it would, and then when news got out that they would be making Agency-Ops figures as a part of this deal?  Yeah, I knew I was on board.

Whether or not we’d even hit Agency Ops was still in question leading to the last day.  It was a stretch goal at the $214,000 $172,000 level, which felt a bit out of reach with 24 hours remaining.  But everyone came together, and we ended up smashing that goal, the Kickstarter rounding off at nearly $218,000!

Huge congrats to the always great folks at Marauder for another successful Kickstarter, and a big thanks to Tommy over on the Marauder Task Force Facebook Page who whipped up a spectacular graphic outlining what would be contained in the “All In” pledge level (this is essentially everything that got unlocked during the Kickstarter).

This is a great look at more terrific additions to an already impressive product line.  Marauder continues to reinvent 1:18 scale military action figures, and I can’t wait to get my hands on some of these and to see what’s still up their sleeves.

Marauder Task Force Kickstarter – Twelve hours remaining!

This is it, folks!  Only twelve short hours remaining on the latest Marauder Task Force Kickstarter and we need less than $6,000 to unlock AGENCY OPS!  What are we all waiting for?

We’ve been clamoring for figures in business suits, and this is our shot.

While we’re at it, there’s some awesome new deco Marauder Task Force figures to unlock as well, still lots of great stuff in the wings.  Twelve hours, people, let’s finish this thing off strong.

The Full Force unloads Series 4 Episode 6 – Micronauts!

The beautiful gentlemen behind the Full Force podcast have graced us with their dulcet tones for another thrilling episode!  They take a look back at the latest G.I. Joe news and spend some time with Derryl DePriest himself discussing Micronauts and a debrief on the first inaugural HasCon.

This is a FOUR HOUR marathon that you simply must listen to to believe.  Great stuff from The Full Force.  Check out the show notes on their Facebook page, or hit up the show itself on their Podbean Page (also embedded below).
