In case folks weren’t aware, Greg Horn, who is a big name in the comics world himself, will be appearing at JoeCon this week! He’s done numerous G.I. Joe related projects like some of the awesome painted comic pack covers, and convention related items as well. The full details are below:
Greg Horn is appearing at this year’s G.I. Joe Convention, with a
limited edition Baroness print, this weekend (August 14-16).
Greg Horn is best known for his artwork on MARVEL COMIC’s titles
ELEKTRA, EMMA FROST, and SHE-HULK. He is currently the regular cover
artist on the acclaimed series MS. MARVEL by Brian Reed. On the
licensing front, Greg’s art has been used on just about any piece of
merchandise you can think of! With WARNER BROS’ licensing division,
Greg has provided spot illustrations based on the SUPERMAN RETURNS
movie, and also an original painting for MATTEL’s board game
Kryptonite Crisis. Other recent WB projects have included a Superman
poster for CLAMPETT STUDIOS, and several illustrations of NBA star
Lebron James for POWERADE and ESPN.
Greg has also been the artist for the following G.I. Joe products:

also be signing any books, magazines, action figures, anything he’s
provided the art for at this year’s G.I. Joe Convention (Greg appears
August 14-16). The Convention takes place this weekend, August 13-16,
in Kansas City.
After more nearly 14 months of waiting (thanks BotCon!), it is our time. It is time for JOE CON.
I’ll tell you what, the last year has been a challenge. Personally it has been hurdle after hurdle. Anyone that knows me knows that I could have easily thrown in the towel at any time and said, “Ya know, I’ve had an impressive 6 year run, but you can’t make them all.” Karma, fate, luck, club anger – you name it – if it was a variable NOT go to the con this year, it has been presented to me. In fact, as little as a week ago, we found out we had to take our daughter. Granted, there is nothing wrong with including the entire family. This will be her 3rd con in person – 4th if you count the womb. We are going to have a GREAT TIME! Nothing is going to sidetrack my convention experience this year – Not a sub par con set; not the non-responsive and out-of-touch club staff; not the economy; NOTHING!! In the famous words of David Farragut at the Battle of Mobile Bay – “DAMN THE TORPEDOES, FULL SPEED AHEAD!!”
The G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club website for the upcoming JoeCon in Kansas City has been hacked! Nefarious COBRA agents have apparently taken over GIJoeCon.com and converted it to COBRA Con!
EDIT- Apparently Dataframe and Dial Tone got things back on track, but COBRA won’t let anyone forget what they did!
We knew the 12″ Crimson Guard was a para-drop figure this year at the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Convention in Kansas City, but I don’t think any of us knew how bad ass he was going to look. This is one fantastic looking figure. GIJoeCon.com has posted a look at the figure here. I have mirrored two of the images below, but there are a lot more at the source.
GIJoeCon.com has been updated with some nice little tidbits of information. First and foremost, for folks wanting some Rise of COBRA stars to appear at the show, your wish has been granted. “Heavy Duty” himself, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje will be appearing at the show in Kansas City! Click here for full details. Also check the ever-growing list of convention guests here.
Secondly, there is also a cover preview for the 22-page comic that is slated to be released as part of the Convention set. Click the thumbnail below for the full version, and check out all other details here.
SDCC has pretty much wrapped for 2009, but there are still some cool stragglers, image-wise. Nomad over at JoeBattleLines has been in the trenches all weekend getting us some fantastic shots, which JBL has posted as a full gallery here. Some of the more interesting images, though, I’m mirroring below.

Over at The Terror Drome, someone also snagged a loose pic of Bench-Press as well, which I’ve hosted below.
