G.I. Joe Collectors Club posts JoeCon Schedule

As the arrival of the 2016 G.I. Joe Convention draws nearer (2 weeks away… is it possible?!?) the G.I. Joe Collectors Club has released the schedule of events.  It has an outline of all the panels and when those panels are happening, so mark those times in your appointment book.  As usual, there are some key days/times you should keep in mind:

Wednesday Evening

Golden Ticket holders will be able to pick up their packages Wednesday night, and those packages include the exclusive convention comic!  Within the convention comic is usually a rundown of what attendee exclusives are available, so news will be hitting probably around 9:00pm Mountain time!

Thursday Evening

Package pick up for everyone is Thursday, and the official reveals of all of the convention exclusives will happen then!  Pictures and details of the extra items should start spreading like wildfire tonight.

Friday

The Club store opens and the sales floor has its sneak preview starting at 2:00pm Mountain!  It’s not clear whether or not Hasbro will have anything new to show at first, but it sounds like they will reveal their real good stuff on Saturday after their panel.  More on that later.

Friday also has a great assortment of panelists including Adam Riches, James Kavanaugh and Dave Tree talking about IDW, Real American Hero, and Action Man himself.

Saturday

Obviously the big draw on Saturday is the Hasbro panel at 11:00am Mountain (1:00pm Eastern) where Hasbro will reveal 2016 G.I. Joe items!  That’s right boys and girls, confirmation that we will see some product this year.  This will obviously be a pretty huge draw for fans both at the Convention and sitting at home!  After this panel, they will be putting prototype figures in their display booths, so expect a flurry of fans rushing to get pictures of these toys.  WATCH YOUR COMPUTER SCREENS.

The Kindle Worlds panel is at 2:00pm moderated by Derryl DePriest, with the Collectors Club roundtable happening at 3:00pm (all times Mountain).  The GIJCC round table will no doubt outline what’s left for us to see this year, including FSS 5.0 and perhaps more details on the G.I. Joe/Transformers 5-Pack and perhaps even some surprises.  Always a good panel to pay attention to, and considering it’s the last one (ever!) you won’t want to miss it.

Other great panels with Kirk Bozigian, Larry Hama and Gregg Berger are happening this day as well!

Sunday

The most bittersweet day at JoeCon where the tired masses are trying to recover from the craziness in the days previous, all while getting ready to leave for the last time.  This will be an emotional day in Loveland, Colorado, but folks have to brave the tears for a few more panels.

JoeDeClassified will do their panel at 10:00am Mountain with the always entertaining Joe Colton during her cosplay panel at 11:00am.  You’ll want to check that out, and see if she’s wearing her “Tequila sunglasses”…

Larry Hama will be doing another panel after that, and then bringing up the rear is no other than What’s on Joe Mind themselves, manning the live broadcast for what is literally the last Fun Pub Convention G.I. Joe panel ever.  Landmark occasion capped off by the WOJM street team.

Obviously if you want to check out the full schedule you can click here, but for folks stuck at home, these are the high level events that you may want to keep your eyes on.

Surprises in store at Roll Out Roll Call 2015?

We are less than a week from the UK’s biggest and best G.I. Joe/Transformers Convention, Roll Out Roll Call, in Southampton!  Attendees have come to expect a fantastic show with lots of great dealers, great insight from special guests and lots more.

Well, this year, things might be getting even MORE interesting.

Fun Publications’ own Pete Sinclair will be in attendance at Roll Out Roll Call this year, and will be hosting panels to talk about what’s coming up for the Transformers AND G.I. Joe Collectors Clubs!  Time will tell if there will be any special news or reveals from the show, but it seems to be they wouldn’t be doing panels if they didn’t have some fun new stuff to talk about.

If you live anywhere near Southampton, UK, this could be a very unique opportunity to come to a show and soak up this fun hobby and enjoy the company of a GREAT crew of diehard G.I. Joe (and Transformers, and Masters of the Universe, etc…) fans.  Everything I hear about the show is good.

Check out all the details at All The Cool Stuff or on Facebook and I’ve mirrored some info below as well.  This should be another great show!

So on top of the amazing exclusives that were available for pre-order atRoll Out Roll Call, The UK Transformers, G.I. Joe & Action Force Show, the Transformers Collectors’ Club (Official) and G.I. Joe Collectors’ Clubhave a few special surprises AND PRODUCT REVEALS in store.

Saturday, Transformers Collectors’ Club Panel at 16:00

Join Pete Sinclair from the Transformers Collectors’ Club as he gives you an insight into the Club, offers up NEW PRODUCT REVEALS and discusses the 2016 official Collectors’ Convention, BotCon.

Sunday, Transformers & G.I. Joe Collectors’ Clubs Q&A Panel at 15:00

Once again join Pete Sinclair from Fun Publications who will field your questions relating to both Collectors’ Clubs, with A SPECIAL FIRST LOOK AT UPCOMING ITEMS for the G.I. Collectors’ Club.

Hasbro reveals G.I. Joe Kre-O Wave 5 at ComicCon!

That’ll teach me to crash early last night! Thinking that the Gentle Giant 12″ vintage figures represented the G.I. Joe news of Preview Night for SDCC, I logged off early last night, then woke up to the intel that Kre-O Wave 5 was revealed for the first time!

Looking like another fantastic line up by Hasbro, this fifth series gives us the following mini figure Kre-Ons:

  • Zarana
  • Bullet Man (!!!)
  • Lifeline
  • Outback
  • Stinger Driver
  • Dial Tone
  • Techno Viper
  • Ninja Ku
  • Leatherneck
  • Tele Viper
  • Iceberg
  • Battle Damage B.A.T.

The info and images come from HISSTank.com and Toy Ark. Along with Series 5, we also got some great in person looks at the upcoming Terror Drome, which looks… frankly… like the best thing I’ve ever seen in my life, perhaps including my two children.

Check out all of these great images below!

Confusion abounds regarding SDCC “Danger at the Docks”

Okay, just when we thought we had it all figured out, thanks to TRU.com, there seems to be more confusion now about exactly how the “Danger at the Docks” SDCC Exclusive 50th Anniversary set will be available.

Over on ToyArk.com a Press Release from Toys “R” Us was revealed, and within the context of that press release, there seems to be an indication that the “Danger at the Docks” G.I. Joe set will NOT be available in Toys “R” Us stores. This has caused some confusion because it’s been pretty widely reported (mostly by me) that this set would not strictly be sold at ComicCon itself.

As it turns out, the most likely result is both stories are true.

Previously there was a Faker/Bizarro 2-Pack from Mattel that was an SDCC Exclusive, but was also available at ToysRUs.com, but was NOT actually in brick & mortar stores. It sounds like that is likely what’s going to happen here. Considering TRU.com themselves has advertised that the Danger at the Docks set will be available online after ComicCon, but they’re also listing it as “Available Only at San Diego Comic-Con” in this latest press release, this sounds like the most likely result.

According to folks I’ve spoken with, the Faker/Bizarro 2 Pack was not especially difficult to get after ComicCon, and certainly far easier than dealing with Hasbro Toy Shop, but at the end of the day, I’d say if you want the Danger at the Docks set, be prepared to jump on it on TRU.com and don’t sit and wait for it to show up at Brick & Mortar. Thankfully SDCC is right around the corner and our long, national nightmare shall soon be over. Check out the full text of the Press Release after the Jump.

GeneralsJoes Reviews the 2014 Convention Set “Zombie Initiative”

First and foremost, a HUGE thanks to long time Joe friend and fellow website admin Fred from JoeBattleLines.  For folks who don’t follow me on Twitter, you may not know this, but during my trip to JoeCon, my beloved Fuji digital camera got destroyed in transit.  That’s one of the reasons why my pictures from JoeCon were all of the less-than-optimal smart phone variety.  So, fresh off an expensive JoeCon trip, I was faced with the distinct possibility of replacing my camera.

Well, Fred heard my dilemma and without hesitation, sent a loaner in the mail to me at his own expense.  It was that camera that I used to take all of the pictures for these reviews, so make sure you thank Fred for his quick generosity.  It’s quite possible these reviews may not have happened nearly as quickly without his help.  While you’re at it, check out JoeBattleLines.com or on Facebook or Twitter to see his Joe reviews and general geekery.

Now, on to the review talk..

The questions generally start coming in about a day or two after I return from the Convention…  “when are you going to post the Convention Set reviews?!”

In previous years I had sort of combined all of the individual pieces into one review, but it was getting arduous and lengthy, and I felt like each individual part of the set was not getting its due scrutiny.  So starting last year I broke everything out into individual reviews, all linked to one central “Set Review”.  Is the format perfect?  Nope, probably not.  And really, in my opinion, there’s no way to slam out 20 reviews in 2 weeks time without some of it sounding repetitive.  Hopefully I do these toys justice, because there are some fantastic ones in here.

You can hit up the G.I. Joe Collectors Club Review page, or just click the link below for this monster.  This will hopefully be a good way to kill a couple of hours on a busy Monday.
