Big news day from the G.I. Joe Collectors Club

Being on the road for most of the day, I didn’t really get a chance to talk about the two big news stories that the Collectors’ Club dropped today in regards to the upcoming G.I. Joe convention at the end of the month.
Big story #1 – Voice actress Morgan Lofting, better known as The Baroness will be appearing in Orlando as a guest of the Collectors’ Club!  Very cool.  By far one of the most distinctive voices in the original Sunbow cartoon, this is a great coup by the GIJCC and she should make for some very interesting discussion.

Big story #2 – Rare toy alert!  Apparently the Collectors’ Club incentive figure for 2011 will give fans an even bigger incentive to attend the Convention.  A very limited run of 600 Dial Tone figures will be available at JoeCon MINT ON CARD.  Normally sold in a sealed baggie as part of the Club’s promotion, some select figures will be carded and for sale at JoeCon.  Attendees will also have the chance to get these signed by Dial Tone’s voice actor Hank Garrett.

Two very cool bits of news.  If you want to read the full press releases, click the “Read the Rest of this Entry” link below.

New picture of JoeCon 2011 Exclusive Claymore

Over on the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club Facebook page, a quick image of the upcoming JoeCon exclusive Claymore figure was revealed!  And it rocks.  I love the character as it is, and they have provided a really, really cool update.  I especially love the Special Forces emblem on his chest featuring “De Oppresso Liber” (to free the oppressed).
And he’s totally Magnum.

Excuse the quick and dirty Photoshop.  The real image is mirrored below, and can also be found at the aforementioned G.I. Joe Collectors Club Facebook page.

More images from the Hasbro G.I. Joe Presentation Slideshow

With a big thanks to The Terror Drome who clued me in to the fact that Hasbro had included the presentation slides with their images they sent along yesterday, and I just never dug deep enough!  Apologies all around.
Below are the images from Hasbro’s Joe presentation, which gives the assortment lowdowns, the release dates, and some press images that have not yet been revealed.  Two headed Renegades Cobra Commander FTW!  😉

Wi Fi problems, site issues and lessons learned

So generally Toy Fair coverage goes very smoothly for me.  This year, not so much.
From Grand Central Station removing their free Wi-Fi access, to page load increases screwing up my page formatting, things were a little wonky this year.  Rest assured, this will not be a trend.  I’ve already talked to my webhost about increasing resources there, and I’ve got a second battery on order for the Droid, so next time around, even if I can’t find Wi-Fi I can at least use the tether (I couldn’t this year until I’d let the phone charge for about an hour).
So, hopefully you’ve enjoyed the coverage, I apologize for the slight bumps in the road this year…things will be better next year when I’m covering in celebration of Renegades Season 2, the 30th Anniversary, and the the returning global phenomenon of G.I. Joe.  :shifty:
Seriously, thanks to everyone for continuing to check the page.  All of the coverage can be found here, and the SuperPage is right here.
Yo Joe!

Before I start the trek home… more detailed images of Zarana

Man… Toy Fair day can be such a blur that sometimes you miss the important details.  I got some shots of Zarana, for sure, but a huge thanks to Augie Pires for passing along these shots that his brother took on site at the show yesterday, including a shot of the Zarana variant’s back.  Her “Cold Slither” band t-shirt has the town names on it.
So, so cool.  I need these figures.  Both of them.  If they can’t make SDCC, I seriously hope Hasbro finds a way to include BOTH of them in the regular assortments.  I hated the Zarana figure as a kid, these are two Zarana I can be proud of.
Well, if a toy of a girl with a torn shirt and exposed midrif is something anyone can be proud of, anyway…  Thanks again to Augie for passing these along, and to Anibal for taking the pics!  You guys rock.

First draft of 2011 SuperPage has been posted

It’s a Toy Fair tradition!  Yay?
I’ve compiled my piles of images from the showroom as well as from the press releases, and assembled a very rough draft for the 2011 SuperPage.
I have a lot of organizational things to work out in my head…  should the first two waves be pulled back into the PoC SuperPage?  Should Waves 1 & 2 (AKA Waves 3 and 4 that we got this year, which were technically 2011 Waves 1 and 2) be pushed to the 2011 page?
I dunno.  It’s freaking midnight and I’m too tired to think about it right now.  For the moment check out the 2011 SuperPage right here and let me know if you recommend any changes or organizational stuff.
Bed time.  It was a whirlwind, but a fun one as always.  Big thanks to Mike, Joe, Danny, and the other array of Hunter PR staff who lead us around the toyroom…and of course a big thanks and “welcome back” to Derryl DePriest, who appears to be taking a larger role in G.I. Joe these days.  We’re better for it!
