As folks who have been paying attention probably know, I’ve been actively working on my next Dio-Story for several months at this p0int. I even documented some of the set building process in my “Behind the Curtain” series for this Dio-Story. I was feeling really good about how things were coming along and anticipated having much of the filming done at this point and ready to hopefully launch the dio-story by the end of the year.
Then the house move came about… and I haven’t mentioned this to too many folks yet, but in the process of moving, the load in the U Haul truck shifted, and almost all of my constructed dio sets were destroyed. My Cobra Temple awesomely constructed by Eric “Capolan” Vaughn? Crushed. The Cobra Commander throne room so crucial to the climax of the story? Done.
It was pretty depressing.
But I’m determined to continue moving forward on this, and as part of that, I’m reconstructing the interior to the Cobra Temple, going in a slightly different direction. Capolan’s Temple set was fantastic. I absolutely loved it, and it served me great, but as the story of Darkness Falls has evolved in my head, I needed a little bit more size and scope, so I started from scratch to rebuild the internal lobby of the temple. Yes, this means there will likely be some design differences and inconsistencies throughout the scope of the story, but I’m hoping some suspension of disbelief will allow folks to overlook that and just appreciate the story.
To give folks a bit of a taste of this new Cobra Interior, I documented the process, which will hopefully give people something to hold them over until Darkness Falls launches. Though that launch probably won’t happen until next year at this point. Click the “Read the Rest of the Story” link below to check out the process of constructing this new Cobra Temple interior.

It’s been about a week, give or take, since I posted the SurveyMonkey survey asking for some input from Joefans about what figures they’d like to see re-released in single pack form at retail. The survey, as I hoped it would, has generated some terrific discussion.
Please take a few moments to share your thoughts on the survey and in the comments section. Some good stuff coming out of it.

For you unlucky souls throughout America without a local Dollar General store, if you have a “Christmas Tree Shop” nearby, you’re going to want to hit it up. Granted, I think Christmas Tree Shops are even more regional than the Dollar Generals are, but there are folks, specifically in New England, who have a Christmas Tree Shop, but no Dollar Generals.
Troy from the ToyVerse and Shogi from Joe Toon Archive both report that the Dollar General figures have been spotted there, and Shogi even sent along an image that you can see below. Do you have a local store? Check ChristmasTreeShop.com to see if there is a store in your area.

Along with the unfortunate news about the FSS subscription service delay, the G.I. Joe Collectors Club sends along an email in regards to the second run of the Oktober Guard Convention set. Unfortunately they failed to meet the Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) but some folks might consider that good news, as that means they are leaving the pre-orders open for the forseeable figure (until the shortfall is filled).
They seem to understand the limitations on finances during the holiday season, so hopefully this means more people will have access to buying this second run set! I would envision that if this second run fails to sell out, chances of us seeing this happen with a future Convention set are little to none.
Check out the full email below.
“Hello everyone,
Our closing date for the second run of the Oktober Guard was yesterday. However, we did not meet the MOQ (minimum order quantity) required by the manufacturer. We are about 100 orders short. Here is what we are going to do: We are moving ahead and placing the order with the manufacturer so they will arrive in the spring. We are also leaving the pre-orders open until the MOQ is sold. Once these are gone, that’s it.
So, how much longer will you have to order them? Unknown, just depends on how fast they go. We know that the timing on this was not great, so we are hoping that by leaving the pre-orders open, more people will be able to get this fantastic set.

It was supposedly a close race between Big Boa and Cover Girl as to which carded image the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club would show first, and Big Boa won out. Turns out, though, that Cover Girl fans (like Gary Godsoe) wouldn’t have to wait too long.
Over on their Facebook page, the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club has posted their latest carded FSS image, and it is indeed the former model and now an armor operator… check out their Facebook page for the latest intel, and take a peek at the mirrored image below.

Okay, so when is the FSS gonna start shipping again?! Over on their Facebook page, the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club has revealed the first carded product image from a Figure Subscription Service figure… and it’s Big Boa!
That homage card art is fantastic, and the figure looks terrific, too. How cool is it going to be to have new G.I. Joe product coming at us again? Check out the G.I. Joe Collectors Club on Facebook, and I’ve mirrored the image below. Also make sure to check out GIJoeClub.com for the latest and greatest FSS news and intel.
