Well, it’s officially 2012 here on the East Coast and officially “G.I. Joe: Retaliation year”!
That’s right, from here on out, I can say “when G.I. Joe: Retaliation hits theaters this year”… I know, I’m a freaking geek.
As I look over where the site was at the beginning of 2011 and where things are now, I can’t help but extend a warm and gracious “thank you” to everyone who finds time in their busy schedules to read my prattling about little plastic men. I receive emails, Tweets, comments, and messages from folks who are often way kinder than I deserve, and I sincerely thank you.
2011 has been great…it’s been a wild ride, but something tells me we’re in for even better times over the next 12 months. I look forward to sitting in the roller coaster next to you all. Bring on G.I. Joe: Retaliation!

Okay, time for me to be honest. I really don’t give a crap about zombie stories. Interestingly, I did find myself captivated by The Walking Dead, but I think that was more character and story driven rather than specifically zombie driven.
When IDW announced they were doing a mega cross-over event featuring zombies, I really wasn’t all that enthralled. When they claimed it would all happen in continuity and somehow make sense…well, that got me at least a little bit interested.
So now we’ve gotten Infestation #1, and now G.I. Joe: Infestation #1. How are the end results?

Wow, this is one beautiful looking Cobra Commander, at least what can be seen.
However, I’ll never own it. While the Premium Format Figures look absolutely fantastic, to the best of my knowledge, they are essentially statically posed statues in hand-crafted clothing. An awesome display piece, to be sure, but I prefer to have my toys move.
If you’re into that sort of thing, though, this looks like one hell of a first entry into the format for Sideshow. Check it out right here, or click on the image below. If other premium format figures are a measurement, expect to drop close to 300 bones on this guy.

As we stand on the eve of The Hub announcing Season 2 renewals, a critical Presidents Day marathon appears to have given G.I. Joe: Renegades a nice bump in the ratings, which will hopefully push it closer to renewal.
The Hub announced today double digit increases in ratings for their G.I. Joe: Renegades “Don’t Fade” marathon, which aired for 3 hours on Presidents’ Day. This is a good sign for the program, and hopefully will provide the additional incentive to get it renewed for a second season.

I think many of us suspected that Sienna Miller might not return in the sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, but even if we weren’t certain about that, an interview with Britain’s “Time Out” magazine pretty much confirms it outright. As reported by IMDB, Miller feels as if she “compromised values” in her role as The Baroness in the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra film.
The actress says “I’m not very good at fighting. And I’m not very good at guns. And I’m not particularly aggressive. I had to wear sunglasses because every time I shot my gun I would blink. I was completely out of place, like this little midget running round in black leather winning fights, which was just absurd. They did a wondrous job with my wardrobe to make me look threatening…”
From the sounds of it, she wasn’t really invested in the initial film, and certainly doesn’t seem to be interested in returning to the Hollywood Blockbuster realm. She continues on with “…G.I. Joe (was) a great pay cheque. If, financially, I’m okay – which luckily I am – there’s no point in doing stuff that’s not right for me. It’s too much time away from home.”
So yeah. I’d say her days in black leather are done. Well, at least in the G.I. Joe franchise. :shifty:
I have no problem with this. Granted, I think she was actually very good in her role and I was pleasantly surprised, however I hated the way The Baroness was written into the first film as Duke’s fiancee and Cobra Commander’s sister, so I think if they are going to separate from Sienna Miller, chances are all the better that we might get a more “proper” Baroness this time around, if she appears at all.
Big thanks to GeneralsJoes reader m6d for the intel. Once again, check out the entire article on IMDB right here.

Well, as much as can be expected, anyway. I will admit, though, the episode shuffling has been very minor, and the online resources seem to be mostly correct when it comes to the episode lineup, so I’m considering this relatively official.
MSN TV has just posted a run of April listings for G.I. Joe: Renegades, and this is what we’ve got:
- Shipwrecked – April 15
- Castle Destro – April 22
- Union of the Snake – April 29
Some very intriguing episode titles, I must say. A pretty obvious guest star for the 15th, and I love the sounds of diving deeper into Destro’s back story. Some real potential. In fact, over the next run of 6 episodes, it sounds like things could really be picking up! Storm Shadow, Shadow-Vipers, Zartan’s return, the Crimson Twins, Snow Job, Shipwreck, and more Destro details? Sign me up! I know I’m ready for G.I. Joe: Renegades to come back. Who’s with me?
