Doing these Con Set reviews is always a bit of a mixed blessing. I generally love the convention sets, but at the same time I’m still trying to do nearly 20 reviews simultaneously which is exhausting. I’ve lost track of how many hours I spend each year putting these together, but that’s why they pay me the big bucks, right?
Wait… I don’t get paid for this crap?
Ah, well. Good thing I enjoy it, eh? So, the 2016 “Project: Downfall” Convention Set hit my hands a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve been spending nearly all of my free time behind a camera, behind Photoshop, or behind Microsoft Word writing up the reviews! Today I am starting the week of right, with SIX, count ’em SIX of the reviews hitting today alone! The entirety of Sky Patrol is being reviewed today with the rest of the set sprinkling out throughout the week.
The written reviews are on their way! We stand at about 90% complete and hope to launch very early next week.
While you wait, Chris from The Full Force and I worked together to get some video reviews done to take a quick peek at the 2016 G.I. Joe Convention boxed set! These videos have been broken up into two parts, one looking at the Sky Patrol members, with the other digging into the COBRA A.D.D.E.R.S.!
Head on over to my YouTube channel to check them out, or they are also embedded below. Full written reviews are on the horizon, expect them very soon!
During ComicCon over the weekend, 1000 Toys not only launched the pre-order for their upcoming 12″ Snake Eyes, but also debuted a first look at Storm Shadow as well!
And holy crap. I LOVE that Storm Shadow. It’s a completely unique take on the COBRA Ninja, with a fantastic looking robotic head sculpt and some insane looking articulation, yet still manages to have the look and feel of the classic character.
The more I look at these two figures, the more I feel like I need them in my Detolf display case, and the more I wonder how the heck I would possibly afford it. Check out the images below and big thanks to Chris from The Full Force for the heads up!
For what is sure to be a very limited time opportunity, the BAIT x 1000 Toys 12″ Snake Eyes figure is up for pre-order at nsurgo.com! Due for release in conjunction for SDCC 2016 (so any time now, then?) this is expected to be very limited quantities.
Although IDW’s Revolution storyline kicks off in September, the first G.I. Joe book spinning out of that event releases in October. IDW Publishing just sent out the solicitation information for October, so, as one might expect, some new tidbits about G.I. Joe’s new direction can be found within.
Below I’m posting any relevant G.I. Joe solicitations as well as the Revolution comic itself, considering any potential tie ins with the main Joe title. Obviously Hama’s Real American Hero comic is chugging right along as well! Check out all the details below.
G.I. JOE IS BACK! Thanks to the events of REVOLUTION, the G.I. Joe team led by Scarlett returns to the fray, leading the charge against invading TRANSFORMERS and other aliens. It’s up to her, Roadblock, Rock ‘n Roll, Quick Kick, Wild Bill, and Shipwreck to move in and root out any traitors before the facility falls into the wrong hands!

Over on HissTank.com, images from affiliate site Toyark have been mirrored giving us our first look at the carded design for the upcoming G.I. Joe line, scheduled to hit retailers in November of this year. The fine folks at Toyark took a TON of pictures, and I’ve mirrored several of them below, but you should pop on over to HissTank.com to check them all out.
No real surprises here, but some nice shots and the obvious omission of the “50th Anniversary” logo on the packages. Check it out!
