JoeReloaded 5-Page preview for IDW G.I. Joe #2

Phil from JoeReloaded has posted up a 5-page preview for the second issue of G.I. Joe, hitting Comic Shops tomorrow!

Check it out here.

Honestly, not a whole lot to get excited about.  Mostly tech speak, no-name troops, although the B.E.T. cameo is an interesting touch.  😉  Hopefully the rest of the issue picks up a bit, but it’s always interesting to see the tech behind the scenes.

More IDW details from NYCC

With thanks from The Terror Drome we received a link to Newsarama’s very detailed coverage of the G.I. Joe/Transformers panel at New York ComicCon yesterday.  Among the tidbits, are a mention of different “Spotlight” series each with a unique focus on a particular character.  Already in the works are Snake Eyes, Beachhead and the Baroness, as well as a four-issue prequel to the G.I. Joe film coming in August.

Rather than me keep going on and on, go ahead and check out the article for yourself.

Sounds like the license is in capable hands!

Info from IDW’s G.I. Joe & Transformers panel at NYCC

HissTank member Paco was able to attend IDW’s panel today at NYCC and has a pretty thorough report here.

Looks like lots of things are planned…  I’m really looking forward to the “Spotlight” issues (those have been pretty enjoyable on the Tranformers side of things).  It sounds to me like G.I. Joe: COBRA is going to still be the highlight to me…I’m really looking forward to how they do this book.

No Serpentor planned is all gravy.  😉

IDW Round up…

Saw this post over at The Terror Drome, which announced that IDW will be holding  a panel at the New York ComicCon tomorrow, so stay tuned for any news and intel that comes out of that!

Don’t forget that G.I. Joe #2 hits stands on Wednesday, February 11th as well, and expect to see a review on GeneralsJoes shortly after release:

Also, G.I. Joe Origins #1 should be hitting this month as well.

Expect a heavy dose of Marvel 3 3/4″ pics and reviews in the next couple of days, too.  Gotta love the weeks leading up to Toy Fair!  🙂

GeneralsJoes Interviews Brandon Jerwa – Former G.I. Joe scribe and current superfan

As IDW takes over the G.I. Joe license and runs with it, it occurs to me that there is some benefit in the historical context of how the G.I. Joe title got to where it is today, and whether many fans like it or not, Devils’ Due was a huge part of the Joe mythos (and was, in fact, the only part of it for a while).  One of the central cogs of the Devils’ Due universe was writer Brandon Jerwa, who orchestrated a very successful, and critically acclaimed run on the G.I. Joe title from issue #25 through the end of it’s initial run before morphing into America’s Elite.

The G.I. Joe brand is in a totally different place now than it was those few years ago, so I thought it would be neat to “sit down” and talk with Brandon Jerwa, who managed to successfully parlay his fandom into a full time gig writing comics.  While his days behind the wheel of a G.I. Joe title have passed (hopefully only temporarily) he still writes some great books on successful franchises Battlestar Galactica and Highlander, both for Dynamite Entertainment.
