IDW G.I. Joe Solicitations for March, 2013

IWD Publishing has released their solicitation list for March, 2013, and of course we’ve got the G.I. Joe titles listed here.  G.I. Joe: Special Missions kicks off in March, with the Cobra Files coming in April.

I’m loving the cover of the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero book, too… Torpedo FTW.

Check out the full solicitation list after the jump.

If you love G.I. Joe, you need to own the IDW COBRA: The Last Laugh Hardcover

Over the past several years, I don’t think I’ve talked to anyone who isn’t a fan of the IDW Publishing Cobra series.  This landmark comic, kicked off a couple of years ago by Mike Costa, Christos Gage and Antonio Fuso, showed readers that G.I. Joe could get dark and gritty in a way that it really never had before.  The film noir writing and artistic style blended together perfectly with a nearly flawless granular look at a single undercover G.I. Joe agent trapped behind enemy lines.

If Brandon Jerwa brought Chuckles to the public consciousness with his work on the Devils’ Due Frontline book, Costa, Gage, and Fuso permanently etched him into the G.I. Joe mythology, weaving a fascinating and intriguing tale of how a single agent worked his way within the vicious underbelly of Cobra and nearly brought the operation to its knees.

Amazon.com has a pre-order posted for a fantastic looking hardcover, listing December 17th as the release date.  Christos Gage has been pretty public on Twitter, and he suspects these hardcover editions will be under-ordered….so if you even think you might want this book.  Pre-order it.  Click the banner below to grab this great edition at a great price, and support GeneralsJoes.com while you’re at it.  It is currently at a fantastic price as well, saving you nearly $25 off of the cover price!

I also want to personally thank everyone who has purchased something through my Amazon Affiliates link.  It has been a very successful endeavor so far, and I greatly appreciate the support by my readers!

USA Today features first look at IDW’s G.I. Joe: Special Missions

Good friend of GeneralsJoes and writer for USA Today Brian Truitt took some time to speak with Chuck Dixon, current writer of IDW’s G.I. Joe title, and the guy who is going to be headlining the G.I. Joe: Special Missions title next year.

As the flagship G.I. Joe title retools slightly for a more public face in 2013, the Special Missions title will focus on the more specialized, military operations on a much smaller scale.  With Scarlett and Mainframe as two team leaders, we get a peek at the nitty gritty G.I. Joe world that we all know and love.

Along with this interview, preview pages were also posted, showing a peek into the intial release of Special Missions.  So far we’re looking good!  Check out the USA Today interview right here, and the preview pages below.

Comics Alliance kills it with more Social Media infused G.I. Joe Operatives

We all know the fine folks at IDW and Fred Van Lente are bringing a somewhat new G.I. Joe world to us in 2013, and one member of that team is Hashtag.  Billed as an “embedded blogger”, Hashtag fits in with the current social media-infused communications world.

Over on Comics Alliance, notable Joefan Chris Sims and artist Chris Haley came up with some other roster additions to this new Social Media friendly G.I. Joe team.

The results, as you might suspect, are hilarious.

Check it out at ComicsAlliance.com.

What’s on Joe Mind goes back in time – The Pilot Episode Flashback!

This Special Edition has actually been online for a while, I just hadn’t gotten the link posted yet, because… well… honestly, I have no good reason.  I’m just a dirty scumbag.

For folks who have been listening for a long time, this will be a pretty neat blast to the past.  During this Special Edition, we look back on episode #0, the pilot episode…  otherwise known as Episode 0 BH (Before Hawk).  I will say it was pretty fascinating looking back on this episode and seeing what was “news” and what sort of conversation was sparked.  And hey, we brought Greg back!  Check out our Podbean page, or the embedded link below.  I’m also going to include a link back to our Special Edition .5, which is a remastered version of the very first pilot episode with better audio and some drop ins.  Check ’em both out.

Special Edition #20

Join Chuck, Justin, Mike, and Gary, along with the RETURN OF GREG as we look back at our pilot episode.  Was what was important then, still important now?  Have our opinions changed?  How has the news and episode held up under the stress of time?  Its a fun and unique look into our past, done in a way only the WOJM guys could do it.  It’s a laid back, no pressure, special edition, so sit back, relax and enjoy a trip back to April 2011.

Episode 0.5

Feels like the very first time, eh?  Yes, this is a remixed and remastered version of our original pilot episode published WAY back in April of 2011.  In the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t seem that long ago, but when you dive into its topic matter, it seems almost like another time and another place.  What was the big topic of the day?  SKYSTRIKERS…yeah, that’s right, Hasbro just announced the price point for the 30th Anniversary re-release of our favorite Jet.  What else was hot in the news at the time?  How about Hasbro taking a big financial hit in its quarterly reports?  Feeling a loss at the Concept Case at JoeCon ’12?  Well, don’t forget about the concept presentation from JoeCon ’11.  Excited for Retaliation figures now?  How about Pursuit of Cobra wave 6 then?  Oh yeah, and how about 3 absolute strangers getting together to record the first, in what turned out to be, longest running Joe podcast to date.  Why is this coming out now?  You’ll find out in Special Edition #20…but you need to listen to this first.  It’s isn’t that much better than the original, but its shorter and hopefully the pain will be less too.  So kick that flux capacitor into action and let’s travel back in time to our first ever show!
