Next year’s G.I. Joe Convention in Dallas, Texas is turning into a treasure trove of voice talent as the G.I. Joe Collectors Club added two more guests to their already impressive roster this year.
According to GIJoeCon.com, both Morgan Lofting (Sunbow’s The Baroness) and Michael Richard Dobson (Cobra Commander from Valor Vs. Venom and Spy Troops) will be making an appearance at the Convention next year. They will join Michael Bell (Sunbow’s Duke) and BJ Ward (Sunbow’s Scarlett) for voice talent, as well as former G.I. Joe marketing whiz Kirk Bozigian and Marvel Comics writer Larry Hama.

In the Convention brochure that was released a couple of days ago, the G.I. Joe Collectors Club revealed that the original voice actress for Scarlett BJ Ward would be attending the G.I. Joe convention in 2014. Well, the Collectors Club revealed today that Scarlett will have Duke by her side in Dallas, Texas!
That’s right, the immortal Michael Bell will be joining BJ Ward as a special guest of the 2014 G.I. Joe Convention in Dallas. Considering how awesome the voice actor reading was last year between Bill Ratner and Mary MacDonald-Lewis, I can only imagine what it will be like this year.

With the release of the 2014 G.I. Joe Convention Brochure yesterday, many fans immediately latched on to a little detail in the text of the 12″ Convention Set which indicated that there would be an exclusive 4″ Joe Colton figure contained within that set. This immediately created a firestorm across the community, who (rightly so) felt a bit bothered that they might be expected to plunk down an additional $345 for the 12″ set, merely to acquire this exclusive Colton figure.
Well, rejoice! The Collectors Club announced on their Facebook page today that they will be releasing this exclusive Joe Colton figure separately at the Convention on an exclusive cardback! Specifically the response was as follows:
“Yes! We will be carding a number of these same figures (no display stand or backdrop) for our 3 3/4” attendees to have access to this figure.
This was left out of the brochure accidentally. We hope that answers everyone’s questions.”
Granted, this means the figure does not come with the backdrop or display stand, but I think most folks were concerned about the figure itself anyway. Now the fans an go ahead and celebrate the neon greatness from E.C.O. Force like I will be for the next several months! W00t!

Well that’s a fine how do you do this wonderful Sunday afternoon! Come on, Collectors Club, I was just turning on Football! 🙂
The G.I. Joe Collectors Club has surprised us today with the release of the 2014 G.I. Joe Convention Brochure. Included in this brochure are the first details of the 2014 G.I. Joe Convention Exclusives set!
And holy wow, we have a good one here, folks. We have the Eco Warriors and Zombie Hunters versus Cobra’s own Eco Force, including some much desired Zombie soldiers!
According to the brochure, this is what we have to look forward to this year:
COBRA forces have acquired the “Compound Z” formula and have started testing it on their own soldiers. They believe by creating zombie warriors they can rule the World and turn its population into mindless creatures. G.I. JOE headquarters is split on how to handle the zombie affliction: save or eradicate?
GENERAL HAWK has formed two groups to solve this deadly problem. Who will be successful? Will it be the Zombie Hunters whose mission is to eradicate those infected or
will it be the E.C.O. (Emergency Chemical Operations) Force trying to rescue and find an antidote for those afflicted? And, what about the team members who become zombies, are they a casualty of war? If too many are turned, who will be left to complete their mission? Only time will tell and it’s running out!
The 2014 G.I. JOE vs. COBRA convention set contains highly requested teams and some new additions available for the first time in the modern era 25A action figure style. This special edition set includes:
Zombie Hunters: Outback, T’J Bang, Steel Brigade Commander
E.C.O. Force: Flint, Ozone, Clean-Sweep
Cobra Lab-Rats x 2, Toxo-Vipers x 3, Toxo-Zombies x 3, and Repulsor with Dawg (NEW K-9).
Each of these great teams comes with classic weapons, accessories, figure stands and file cards in this exciting fifteen figure boxed set.
Uhhh…let me be the first to say… HOLY WOW. That’s a lot of crazy coolness all in one convention set right there. You gotta think there will be some awesome use of 30th Anniversary parts in there, especially Airtight for the E.C.O. Force. But man… Outback and TJbang?! Zombie Hunters battling against the E.C.O. Force in their race to kill or heal? Some very awesome potential paradigms here, and I am freaking thrilled!! Cannot wait to start hearing and seeing more about this fun sounding set!
Check out the Brochure on GIJoeCon.com and hopefully we’ll start seeing some images soon.
EDIT – Shame on me for not mentioning the 12″ set… see those details below:
Included in this 12” two figure set: Timeless Edition Vintage G.I. Joe figure: Tiger Stripe Camouflage Green Beret Jacket and Pants; Tall Black Boots; Green Beret; M-16; Ascot; .45 with Belt and Holster; Canteen with Canteen Cover; and Gold Tone Dog Tag. Timeless AT G.I. Joe figure: Black T-Shirt with AT sticker; Cargo Pants; Short Black Boots; Black Shoulder Holster with Label Revolver; Black Hunting Rifle; Tan belt with Canteen and cover; Duffel Bag featuring AT logo; Map with Map Case; Rope; and a Gold Tone AT Dog Tag.* In addition, to celebrate all ages of G.I. Joe, this set comes with a unique 3 3/4” Joseph Colton, G.I. Joe with Pistol and Club Action Figure Display System with 50th Anniversary backdrop.*

His name comes up all the time on most fans “most wanted” lists, and unlike a figure like Pythona, you would think Billy could be done relatively easily with many existing parts. So what’s stopping someone like the G.I. Joe Collectors Club from doing it?
According to the Q & A at last year’s JoeCon (and it seems like every year’s JoeCon) the Club doesn’t know what version of Billy the fans might want. The Boy Scout assassin version (no thanks)? Storm Shadow’s ninja apprentice? A Devils Due-esque version in military gear and long hair? Where do you stand?
Well, if you’re a member of the G.I. Joe Collectors Club, skinny has put up an unofficial poll to gather some fan consensus about what version of Billy we might want to see. It’s pretty well known that the Club pays attention to fan requests, especially at their site or on their forums, so you should definitely check out the forums, and place your vote.
You never know, you might help shape FSS 3.0 or 4.0!

With the information yesterday that the 2013 G.I. Joe Convention will feature a paradrop with a Kre-O KreOn figure, and not a traditional G.I. Joe figure, some folks figured that meant there would be a convention exclusive Kre-On figure used.
Well, the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club took to Twitter today to confirm that fact:
So Kre-O fanatics, something to look forward to if you’re going to be in Indy next week! Thanks to Kenny on Twitter for pointing this out to me.
