GeneralsJoes Reviews G.I. Joe Kre-O Cobra Armored Assault

Continuing the GeneralsJoes “G.I. Joe Kre-O Week” we have just one review today, featuring the Cobra Armored Assault set.  I suspect that most fans, myself included, picked up this set primarily for Flint, but they may find some other things to love here, too.  Check it out at my Kre-O Review Page, or the direct link below.

GeneralsJoes Reviews G.I. Joe Kre-O Checkpoint Alpha and Serpent Armor set

G.I. Joe Kre-O week continues with a look at the Checkpoint Alpha build set and the Serpent Armor vs. VAMP build set as well!  I was struggling a bit with how to review these, since I really don’t have a Lego background, but some friends of mine just advised that I review them as a G.I. Joe fan would, so that’s kind of what I went with.

You might notice I’m ironing out some of the review kinks.  I don’t have box images or sticker images necessarily…some of those will come later.  I was battling an eager 7 year old who wanted to jump right into these things.  So you can either check out my G.I. Joe Kre-O Review Page, or the direct links below:

It’s G.I. Joe Kre-O Week at GeneralsJoes! First review – Mini Figures Wave 1

I’ve been thinking about how to structure and organize these reviews, and I decided that there really wasn’t enough detail to break the reviews of wave 1 down to individual figures.  They were much better tackled as a whole.  I’m sure folks will let me know if they’re not happy with that format.

Throughout the rest of this week I will endeavor to cover every G.I. Joe Kre-O set that’s been released so far!  It might be too tall an order, but I’m going to give it my best shot as we roll towards the theatrical release of G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

What’s on Joe Mind celebrates Episode 74 with Lady Jaye herself!

All it took were a few words, and you could instantly recognize the voice from our youth.  Mary MacDonald-Lewis joined us for a fantastic action-packed interview, bringing some of her classy Sunbow Lady Jaye style to the show.  We talk about her experiences with the animated series, her real life relationship with Bill “Flint” Ratner, and whether or not she thinks Adrianne Palicki can fill her shoes.

Also joining us on this episode is Carson from the epic G.I. Joe site, 3DJoes!  He talks technology and what drew him to build his site and where he thinks it might go in the future.  Along with this we cover news, and get fired up about G.I. Joe: Retaliation!  Come join us on Podbean, or use the embedded players below.  As always click the “Read the Rest of the Story” link for the show notes.

Kick Ass Customs – Fun with G.I. Joe Kre-O

Perhaps I’m a late adopter, because I only really started getting sucked into the G.I. Joe Kre-O offerings over the past few days.  It took a bit for me to order the sets on ToysRUs.com and they just showed up this past week.  After spending a few multi-hour marathons with my 7-year old building these sets, I am officially a fan!

Granted, this is coming from a Lego n00b who really doesn’t have a lot of backstory with building sets.  All I know is the mini figures are a lot of fun, and watching these build sets come together has been a real blast.  But what I’ve done is nothing compared to what some other folks are already doing.  On Twitter Troy McKie Art has already spun up a bunch of very cool customs using G.I. Joe, Battleship, and even some Transformers Kre-O parts.  He jumps headlong into 1987 and really does some awesome stuff with some pretty straight forward part swaps.

Check out the gallery below:

He even let us know some of the recipe’s:

  • Outback is Joe Colton Head, Storm Shadow torso backwards, TF hands, and BattleShip Legs.
  • Tunnel Rat is TF helmet and legs, the rest is BattleShip
  • Falcon is Stalker with clutch arms and BattleShip head with Joe gear
  • Fast Draw is all BattleShip and TransFormers with a bad ass rocket launcher backpack.

Again, huge props to Troy McKie Art for posting those great Kre-O customs, and make sure you check out his website as well at TroyMcKie.com.

New G.I. Joe Kre-O SuperPage has been launched!

I’ve been considering this page for a while, and in fact had most of it drawn up shortly after Toy Fair, but with the recent collector craze over these little guys, I figured it was time to get this thing rolled out here.

On the SuperPage you’ll find a wave-by-wave break down of the Kre-O figures with all of the press images, and the known codes for the blind bags.  You can find it in the SuperPages menu up above, and also directly at the link below:

On this page you’ll also find a ton of images from Toy Fair 2013 featuring most of the Wave 1 Kre-O items, and even the build sets from Wave 2!  Enjoy!
