IDW Officially brings G.I. Joe and Transformers to the Apple iPad

iPad early adopters now have official rationalization for purchasing this very cool new product (as if you didn’t already).
IDW, always on top of the digital comics world, continues that trend by bringing two of their most popular licenses, G.I. Joe and Transformers, to the Apple iPad.  Check out the full press release here, or click the “Read the rest of this entry” link below.

GeneralsJoes Reviews IDW's G.I. Joe #18

I know I haven’t been posting many reviews lately for the IDW titles, even though I’ve been enjoying them much more than I had recently.  I figured I should change that for G.I. Joe #18.  Written by Chuck Dixon with art by SL Gallant, the main G.I. Joe title started off quite slowly, and has taken a while to build…but it has been building.
There are spoilers in this review, so click the “Read the rest of this entry” link below to check it out.

The Hub officially announces their fall lineup – G.I. Joe: Renegades is on!

Considering October is fast approaching, I was starting to wonder a bit about when we’d start hearing more official news about the Hub in general, and G.I. Joe: Renegades specifically.  Turns out that time is now.
During an advertiser upfront, the Hub officially announced their initial slate of animated programming, including G.I. Joe: Renegades, and MediaWeek.com even debuted a shot of Duke that we all saw at the Convention in Providence 2 weeks ago.  A pity it’s so small.
Information about G.I. Joe: Renegades is as follows:

G.I. Joe Renegades” (Hub Original Series)
This action-packed animated series goes back to basics with the origins of G.I. JOE, the world’s most elite fighting force, and their evil nemesis, the Cobra organization.  Witness the emergence of the heroic G.I. JOE team as a cadre of highly-trained specialists who are forced to band together to prevent the nefarious forces of Cobra from achieving global domination. Produced by Hasbro Studios.”

Current hypothesis is that Cobra is a large, worldwide organization, and the G.I. Joe team is on the run.  Promising lots of cameos, adult-themed plots and action, G.I. Joe: Renegades could potentially be the animated series that the fans have been waiting for, which will please us, but also be approachable to the kids.
The Hub is slated to launch October 10th, 2010, and one would imagine G.I. Joe: Renegades would launch alongside the channel’s debut.  For a full transcript of the Press Release with all of the gory details click the “Read the rest of this entry” link below, or find it right here.

Transformers: War for Cybertron continues to make me happy

So, I bit the bullet and pre-ordered this bad boy.  I don’t buy many video games.  At all.  I think the last  game I bought was Halo 3.  But yes, I have pre-ordered this one (and will pre-order Halo Reach eventually as well).
To say I’m impressed by the level of detail, immersion, and gameplay evident in all the videos I’ve seen would be a massive understatement, and the latest producer’s video only cements that fact.  There may be some minor spoilers in here.

I’m sorry, but this game looks amazing.  This is the exact right way to do our 80’s properties proud.  Pay some great homage to the vintage style, but reinvent and reinvigorate the brand in a new way for a new audience as well.
I think all we can hope for is that the Rise of Cobra sequel is powerful enough to warrant a game of this type for G.I. Joe, I think that would be a very cool thing.  But until then, I’ll live vicariously through the Transfans.
