As February draws closer, the release of the latest G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club newsletter gets closer, and we find out what this interesting “freebie” the Club has promised ends up being. Another awesome landmark event, though, is the return of Rod Whigham to the G.I. Joe universe! Yes, he’s been providing alternate covers to G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero series by Larry Hama, but this Adventure Team book will mark his triumphant return to internal comics pages.
I am absolutely psyched. Mr. Whigham was far and away my favorite artist during the long tenure of the original Marvel comic series, and seeing him pen the Joe universe again (even an Adventure Team one) is going to be awesome.
Todd Pleasant, who is writing the series also swung by the GeneralsJoes comments section and gave some intel on the upcoming book as well:
“Rod’s work on the comic is truly amazing. He brings life to the AT in way we have never seen. It has been great being involved with this project, and a pleasure to work with such a consummate professional.
The profiles are intended to flesh out and add dimension to the characters featured the serial. We have a number story lines in the works, and I am hoping to work in some prehistory for the Team. Including how each of the members were recruited. We get a sample of that in the first episode as we tag along with the Commander on headhunting mission.”
Todd also is part of the team that gives us the Regular Joes comic in the Collectors’ Club newsletter, and also was one of the folks behind the absolutely awesome AESOP dio-comic back in the day. Personally, I can’t wait to see what we’re going to get.

Last year (it seems so long ago) a member of The Terror Dromes editorial staff got a chance to catch up with Henry Gilroy at the San Diego ComicCon. Well, it just turns out that Mr. Gilroy is one of the lead writers of G.I. Joe: Renegades, and he was kind enough to offer himself up to answer questions.
The Terror Drome was equally kind and gave me a chance to put my own .02 in, and below is the outcome of this interview. You will see questions that were posed by members of the Terror Drome forums as well as my own questions near the end of the interview.
It’s a pretty long, detailed, and wide-ranging conversation about G.I. Joe: Renegades! Check it out after the jump, and a humongous thanks to the great guys at The Terror Drome for letting me be included in this great opportunity. (more…)
Well, it’s another depressing “Renegades-less” Friday, but all is not lost! Even though there’s no new episode on tonight, we do get a promo for next week, entitled “Busted”. Duke is in prison and the other Joes try to rescue him while he tries to take down the Warden.
Check out the embedded video below.
Given all the Easter Eggs we’ve seen so far, will Mutt make an appearance? Law and Order? Guess we’ll find out next Friday.
Well, it would certainly appear so, according to Ragi Foesmasher of HissTank.com.
Previews typically lists figures set for release a little ways in advance, and they report the following:
“For over twenty-five years, the G.I. Joe has been defending America and the cause of freedom from the evils of Cobra! Characters like Blowtorch, General Hawk, Steel Brigade Trooper, Cobra Trooper, Cobra Commander and the Jungle B.A.T. enter the fight for the fate of the world as these collectible 3.75″ figures! Blister card packaging.”
Uhhh… wha–?
It’s pretty unusual for Hasbro to be able to keep assortments like this under wraps right up until release, but kudos to them for doing it, if that’s what this is. What sort of format these figures will come in raises some questions as well…obviously they’ve all been released as Anniversary figures already (except for the Steel Brigade Trooper), so are these some sort of Pursuit of Cobra upgrade figures? Curious…
According to the poster, this edition of Previews will hit comic shops in two weeks. It appears “on Page 360 will be a listing for item code FEB111522. With a title of GI JOE AF ASST 201103. The picture is of Wave 4 and the shipping date is 4/27/2011.”
Guess we know what to look for at Toy Fair!
We’ve known for a while that the main IDW G.I. Joe title was wrapping up it’s first “season” after issue #24, and that a likely new “season” would be catapulted onto comic shelves early in 2011. But what has remained a mystery was just how IDW was going to make this all happen.
Well, we now have a clear idea of how we’re moving from Season One to Season Two and it’s an event of monumental proportions, certainly to be felt throughout all IDW titles for months to come.
Warning! There are SPOILERS abound in this post. If you have not yet read G.I. Joe: COBRA #12, consider yourself WARNED. The rest of this story will be posted after the jump to avoid spoiling upcoming story details. (more…)
