And the hits just keep on coming! Hot on the heels of their stellar reveal of the 2012 Convention Exclusive Daina figure, we now have the reveal of the equally awesome Schrage!
With another awesome new headsculpt, nearly perfect parts choices, and a fantastic accessory compliment, we are getting yet another home run in what looks to potentially be a landmark convention set.
Another interesting thing to note… I’m not sure how many other fans have been wondering, but I was kind of curious if the Club would be dipping their toes into the “dead Oktober Guard” waters considering their comic book mythology seems to walk in line with the Marvel Universe. Daina is still alive in the Marvel mythology, but Schrage is not! This confirms that those characters are not off the table to the Club and reinforces the thoughts that we may just get a full compliment of modern era Oktober Guard characters.
UPDATE – When I say “full compliment” I’m talking about the original 6 members (Brekhov, Stormavik, Schrage, Daina, Horror Show & Dragonsky) and not really considering guys like Gorky, Misha, or even Wong. Looking at the reveal page for the Con exclusives you see 6 empty spots for the Russians, so that seems in line with their thinking as well.
BAD. ASS. Check out GIJoeCon.com for details, and take a peek at the mirrored image below. Absolute perfection.

Well look at that! Over on HissTank.com Snakefox is reporting that he was able to score a case of the much sought after “Dollar Store” G.I. Joe figures at a local retailer in the Philippines.
This is great news for Joe fans, as many of us have been drooling over these figures since they were first revealed just a week ago. Snakefox reports that they are “3-4 dollars cheaper” than regular retail G.I. Joe figures. Check out the discovery thread right here and look at the mirrored images below.

Topping off the frenzy he started earlier this week with the revelation of the “Dollar Store” assortment of vintage themed figures, Gyre-Viper has now posted carded images for these figures! Check them all out on JoeDeClassified.com.
Don’t forget to hit up the DeClass thread right here as well for the initial reveal, as well as some additional intel I was able to gather about these figures right here. If you want to stay right on top of all of these reveals, make sure you’re following Gyre-Viper on Twitter.

Wow, this is a very pleasant surprise. The G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club notified us all last week that the Footloose figures were now shipping, and HissTank user Blot has received his! How did someone in England receive their figure before everyone in the US? I have no idea, but the best news is that Blot took some nice pictures of Footloose, and I’ll be damned. He’s got the ball joint wrists!
I don’t believe we’ve seen those in any previous image. An awesome addition by the Club and the figure is looking even cooler now. Check out a couple of mirrored images below, take a look at HissTank.com for the rest, but most importantly keep your eye on those mailboxes! Footloose incoming!

So with big thanks to Gyre Viper and JoeDeClassified, we got a very nice look at some potential upcoming figures to be released this year. With much of the focus being placed on the G.I. Joe: Retaliation movie line, this figure assortment (which contains some very old school classic deco’s) sort of came out of left field and has many fans scratching their heads.
Well, looking to find some answers, I asked around a little bit to see what I could find.
A reliable source tells me that these figures are themed as a low price-point assortment, mostly targeted for Dollar Stores. The idea of the assortment was to take some of the well known core characters and get them into retail outlets, but to do it in interesting ways, and ways that existing tooling would allow.
With the idea of paint applications, apparently some decisions had to be made for cost purposes, and even though a figure like Cobra Commander looks to be somewhat bland, he has the same paint apps as anyone else, they’re just applied differently. As far as paint applications go, too, each paint app adds cost to the overall product, so to keep pricing low, the number of different paint applications also had to be kept low. While the price has yet to be revealed, we can expect to see these priced lower than the mainline items.
Release dates are uncertain, but we should expect to see these hit Dollar Stores this summer.
Obviously at this point, these details could be subject to change, but I consider this information to be extremely reliable. Again, to see some images of these figures, check out JoeDeClassified.com.
If nothing else this assortment brings a certain enlightenment to me. Ever since its release, I’ve always hated the Ninja Force Storm Shadow. I wasn’t entirely sure why, but it’s clear to me now. I think the design and the limited articulation of the original figure significantly impacted my overall opinion of the uniform itself. Seeing this similar design on a much better base figure really gives new light to the look of the figure in a way I didn’t appreciate back in the 90’s. It’s amazing that after 15 or so years, taking old school deco’s and applying them to newer figures can still bring things to light after all this time.
A great looking assortment, and great news about them potentially hitting discount and dollar stores. Hopefully there’s more still to come!

Believe it or not, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. As cool as the upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation Crimson Guard and Night-Viper are…and as neat as it is that they were once rumored to be 30th Anniversary figures, the JDSO crew dives into many more mysteries, both modern and vintage!
Patrick “notpicard” Stewart reviews the G.I. Joe: Retaliation figures, they talk about the awesome ARBCO Playset, and solve the long-standing mystery of what the hell is on Low Light’s leg??!
Of course any episode of JDSO is always complimented by some awesome images, so be sure to check out the thread on JoeDeClassified to soak in all of these great pictures. I’ve mirrored a a handful of them below, but you need to check out DeClass to see the rest. Some great, GREAT stuff.
