Taobao seller xingzhangijoe has posted another auction from the upcoming Rise of COBRA toyline, this time featuring our first look at the carded Destro. Check out the auction here, and thanks to HissCommander of The Terror Drome and ggpike from the Coil Club for the heads up!
In a surprise announcement, Sideshow Collectibles has announced the production of G.I. Joe Environments in scale with their 12″ collectible action figures. The first announced item is the “Recon at Waypoint 12 with Timber” designed to work with Snake Eyes. This is an amazing looking piece, and there’s a preview of this item visible here.
No price is announced yet, but I really love how this thing looks. Makes me wonder just what they might come up with to work with the COBRA guys. Wow.
Dark Horizons wasn’t the only website in attendance for the 5-minute sizzle shown for The Rise of COBRA a few days ago, and another report has surfaced giving the lowdown of what was shown. IGN Australia also had a chance to check out the effects-laden G.I. Joe preview and gives their own report here.
They give many of the same details that Dark Horizons did, but manage to go into better detail about certain sequences as well. There may be some minor spoilers tossed about.
ComicContinuum.com has posted a five-page preview to the upcoming second issue of G.I. Joe: Origins, slated to hit stands next Wednesday. This issue appears to pick up right where issue #1 left off, digging a bit more into Snake Eyes’ past, but also uncovering a bit more about the mysterious Chimera as well.

Possibly from the screening event in Australia, eBay seller eyesonthesky2005 has posted auctions for banners featuring The Rise of COBRA Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. The two banners take imagery from the posters we’ve already seen, but instead are printed on oversized banners, perfect for hanging in your “mancave”.

Along the same lines as IDW’s recently announced “I Am Optimus Prime” book, featuring Robot Heroes versions of all of the familiar Transformers characters, the comic publisher will be releasing “We Are G.I. Joe” a comic geared towards 4-7 year olds with Combat Heroes taking center stage.

My three-year old already runs around the house yelling “COBRA!” so this will be the next obvious step in the evolutionary chain.
So far the word is good. Lots of positive remarks about this new limited series. I’m hoping to get my own words down on virtual “paper” within the next couple of days as well (not to mention catching up on reviews for Prequel #1 and G.I. Joe #3).
