Toy Fair 2014 – Loyal Subjects catalog reveals Series Two G.I. Joe!

One very cool licensed item that was debuted last year were some great mini figures by the Loyal Subjects.  Packaged in blind boxes these unique items had some great chase figures as well as a really  cool and unique design aesthetic.

GeneralsJoes Twitter friend Matt Guzy from Awesome Toy Blog acquired a catalog from the Loyal Subjects at Toy Fair, and within was a listing for Series Two of their G.I. Joe items!

Characters like Roadblock, Beachhead, and Cobra Trooper are shown in the catalog, among others.  Check out the mirrored image below and big thanks to Matt for the heads up.  Follow him on Twitter for some great Toy Fair coverage.

Reminder – Larry Hama and Mark Cheng’s Ghost Source Zero!

Just wanted to post a reminder as we come within two weeks of the Kickstarter Campaign closing, Larry Hama and Mark Cheng’s fun new project Ghost Source Zero is in the throws of a crazy Kickstarter which has already gained over $40,000 for funding!

But with only 13 days left there’s still a long ways to go, so if you want to see what Hama and Cheng have up their sleeves for the remaining 11 parts, please throw them some support.

The Pilot Episode has been posted already on Machinima, but they need the Kickstarter to go through in order to publish the remaining 11 parts and thus complete the film.  Check out the full Pilot episode below, then please consider supporting the project on Kickstarter.

Thanks!

G.I. Joe Kre-O SuperPage Updated with Wave 3/4 Information and images

I’ve seen some questions about identifying the Kre-O releases, so I’ve updated the Kre-O SuperPage to include all of the latest images and assortment information to reflect the new additions.

Hit up the G.I. Joe Kre-O Super Page and scroll down to Wave 3, where you’ll see the two new waves announced yesterday as well as the boxed sets.

At some point I’ll probably do up a 50th Anniversary one as well, but it doesn’t feel like there’s quite enough details released to warrant that as of yet.

Video from Toy Fair 2014 – G.I. Joe and Transformers Kre-O

Among many others in New York City for Toy Fair was video toy reviewer Pixel Dan, and he broke out the video camera for his trip through the Hasbro Preview.

Included in this coverage was great video of the Kre-O station where he spoke with representatives about the Transformers and G.I. Joe Kre-O lines.  Check out YouTube or the embedded video below.

Toy Fair 2014 G.I. Joe “Best in Show”

So now that the flood of news has slowed to a simmer since yesterday afternoon, I figured it was time to sit back and see exactly what was revealed yesterday and break down what really stood out to me and what rose to the top.

This will be somewhat of a mixed bag, because as many folks have already witnessed, there is a lot of “carry forward” product here, which obviously is pretty cool in some respects, but not something that’s going to crack my Top 10 list.

After the jump I’ll break down my opinions.

Hasbro Press Release for G.I. Joe 50th Anniversary

Along with the press images already released and posted, Hasbro PR sent along a press release, which confirms the SDCC Exclusive is the standard VAMP MK II with Flint/Black Night Landing with black and red Cobra Eel.

EDIT – In my rush through reading the press release late last night I thought it had mentioned ComicCon, but apparently I was drunk.  I see no mention of that this morning and no confirmation of the brown VAMP being a ComicCon exclusive.  I am looking into confirming this.

This is interesting information that is sure to annoy some collectors, with the standard deco for Flint being a very highly requested figure (in fact it was voted #1 at the 2012 Concept Case survey).

Check out the Press Release after the jump.

G.I. Joe 50th Anniversary – What it is and where it comes from

So throughout the whirlwind of reveals at Toy Fair today, it’s been a bit tough to get everything sorted out and really figure out what these new items represent and what the original genesis or inspiration of these items was.  Interestingly, a lot of these things come from fan-centric sources, including concept cases and short ship Pursuit of Cobra offerings.

The full low down is after the jump, with in depth descriptions of each 2 or 3 pack as well as the source figures and where the inspiration might have come from.

Hopefully this will shed a little bit of light on this particular situation:

High Resolution Press Images for G.I. Joe 50th and Kre-O

The fine folks with Hasbro Public Relations have posted the press images from the G.I. Joe 50th Anniversary and Kre-O reveals today.  Check them out below, and I’ll break things down more in a moment:

EDIT – Looking at the image names, it would appear that the standard version of the VAMP MK II with Flint just may be a San Diego ComicCon Exclusive!
