Well, ole Gyre-Viper comes through again over on HissTank.com and has gotten his hands on the upcoming Doom Cycle, an Alpha Class vehicle slated to be released with the Pursuit of Cobra toyline this fall.
While this isn’t necessarily a military behemoth that will be backing up your Alley-Vipers, it’s a pretty neat Dreadnok inspired chopper. The driver, Storm Rider is a mixture of Shipwreck and a new head, and captures the spirit of the Dreadnoks pretty well (especially with that cool looking nail gun) though I have heard some complaints that they made him a new character instead of re-using a classically inspired character.
Anyway…check out the mirrored images below.

Also included in the gallery are some shots of a Battle Corps inspired HISS test shot. That’s some brightness right there!
Is it alright for me to say that I really don’t like that HISS tank model? It’s pretty weak and light on armor.
I kinda like the Doom Cycle’s rider is a new Nok. Yeah, I’d love for Hasbro to stop being stupid and give us updates to Zandar and Zarana but that doesnt mean I don’t also want the Noks to get some fresh blood.
The HISS is a bit smaller than I’m used to but I think I’ll wait until I see this thing in real life before I render my final say.
don’t shoot the messenger.
I’m not a fan of the dreadnok cycle and I think the HISS has some
lazy bits to it.
The HISS looks kind of cool (design-wise anyway), but the colors on this prelim look more like a bizarre Dreadnok HISS Tank. Even when the new HISS finally releases with its actual paint app, I’ll be trying to get 2 of them and both will be getting paint jobs. One black and one metallic red. I just don’t care for the final release version colors either, although much better than the monster patrol variation here.
As for the Doomcycle…Honestly, I absolutely hate the retarded little barbs and flail fins that pop out in front and back. Lame. Storm Rider looks mediocre at best, so far, but his final paint design may end up being okay, from what I’ve seen. Still not as thrilling as some of the other Noks out there, and even though we didn’t get an update of any one of the other numerous Noks out there (18 or 19, not counting the Zartan Family) at least it is another Nok to help fill their group out a bit.
Although, if we weren’t getting an update figure, couldn’t we at least have gotten a Zanya, Heartwrencher, or one of the other half dozen Nok characters that we’ve seen in comics or cartoons the last decade or so?
Just the same, I agree with Gyre-Viper. I’m not a fan of the cycle either. The handlebar guns are a very Dreadnok touch, but the blade action doesn’t fly with me. I’ll end up getting one for the Dreadnok figure, but the stupid “swing blade bits will be getting the “axe” as it were, even if I only super glue them in place permantently for color highlights, to better offset the dismally dull RoC style color scheme. Aside from that, we’ve at least finally gotten another Nok bike, I guess.
