Well the Baseball “second season” begins tonight, and of course the game I’m most interested in doesn’t air until 10:00pm Eastern time. 🙁
Seriously, isn’t there some sort of better “middle ground” than that? East Coast folks who want to follow the Red Sox have to stay up until 1am to watch a baseball game on a Wednesday night? I know the Sox are primetime material, but man, this is ridiculous.
On another note, I’ve been reading a lot of “doom and gloom” talk for the Sox, especially centering around Josh Beckett’s health. Personally I’m not really concerned. I know Beckett has injury history, but let’s face it, he has not been pitching like a number one starter all year long. I think it’s possible that Francona is perhaps bumping him back in the rotation, but letting him keep some face by putting an “injury” out there to explain it away. Lester has been our ace for nearly the entire season, and while Dice-K always makes things interesting, he did still log 18 wins and a team-best ERA. So while it doesn’t look like I’ll even be able to watch all of the games, I’m still really confident about the Lester, Matsuzaka, Beckett lineup. The Angels will be a tough out, though.
Go Sox!
This will not be easy. If Beckett can’t come to the table with his usual post-season stuff, we are in deep crap. I hope we can keep our post season mojo going against the Angels that we’ve had going since ’86.
Let’s make this two in a row… GO SOX!
As much as I super strongly (okay, hate) the Partiots, I’m a HUGE Red Sox fan. I’m pumped about tonight’s game, but the 10pm thing is a little rediculous. Even pushing it up to 9pm would be better for fans, of either team, I would think, across the country.
From what I’ve heard, Lowell and Drew will be back and in the lineup, so I’m not sure why everyone thinks the offense is going to be awful and won’t be able to put numbers up against the Angels’ starting rotation. Even if Lowell can’t go, Lowrie can fill in at third, and from what I’ve seen, he’s going to be a great player and might get a chance to shine in the playoffs, like Ellsbury did last season. With Lester on the mound, I think there’s a good chance of winning this game tonight.
A Pats and Red Sox fan, dear god that’s terrible. Good thing I like your GIJoe stuff.
Great game 1 (yes, I stayed up and watched the entire thing and was DEAD yesterday). Nice to see the Jacoby Ellsbury of the ’07 post season! The guy can be an absolute spark when he’s hot. Tonights game will be interesting…..I thing the Angels are a good team for Dice-K to face with their free swinging style. They won’t wait around for Dice-K to throw a lot of pitches and walk batters which works in Dice-K’s favor….IF the Angels adjust to that and are a little more patient at the plate, then it could be a different story. But I like the Sox chances of going up 2 – 0. TONS of pressure on the Angels to win tonight. GO SOX!!!!
