For better or worse, another new trailer/TV spot has emerged from Latino Review for the upcoming G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA. I say for better or worse, because while the action still looks frenetic, high-paced, and awesome, we get a clear indication of what to expect from Ripcord here…I’m all for comedy relief, but not bad comedy relief. Ah, well…
Still, the trailer is fun. Check it out via Latino Review or via the YouTube embedded video below:
Thanks to Hiss Commander from the Terror Drome for the heads up!
I’m all for it! Can’t wait to see this sucker!
if it’s only him making corny or goofy comments after falling down, or going through a train i can deal with it. hey the new kirk banged his head in a shuttle craft and had inflated hands as “jokes” in the new trek film and it didn’t ruin that film. it looks like ripcord is given a few serious scenes too, he’s the pilot scarlet is pleading to eject, and if they balance him out in the movie with serious and funny moments maybe it won’t be so bad.
Yeah, didn’t bug me at all. “You can do that?” actually made me laugh aloud.
Alright, this settles it. I’m in.
Sometimes people forget that all great action movies make you laugh at at least one point or another. Like the scene in T2 where John tries to teach the Terminator how to smile.
I guess as long as we know what to expect going in, it’s all good. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still feeling good about the movie (in spite of all the recent Stephen Sommers related hooplah) from a pure “fun” perspective. Part of me was just hoping maybe they’d dial down the goofy humor somewhat. I liked the part with Ripcord and Duke at the end, but Ripcord falling on his ass out of the van just seemed out of place. Still looking forward to it, though.
*facepalm*
for me it didn’t seem out of place, well at least not that much. when i first started driving i almost crashed, and if someone were to give me a advanced exo-suit i would i probably fall down a bunch of times not just once when first trying it out. given the fact that ripcord and duke are “regular” army that have just joined the joe team i can see a time adjustment with the new tech. and if i fell my ass in front of a bunch people i would probably make a joke too.
The look on Scarlett’s face when Ripcord hits the ground is priceless. Reminds me of the way she used to react to Clutch in the early comics.
My 8 year old thought it was funny.
WTF did they hire someone with a British accent to play the Baroness and then have her use an American accent?
Especially since she’s supposed to be Eastern European.
But what about Heavy Duty’s accent,it did not strike me as American.
Cobra Commander: No, she’s supposed to be central European.
Did any one else chuckle at the Real American Heroes comment?
