There have been folks out there questioning whether the Collectors’ Club might extend the deadline for renewing memberships in order to accommodate folks who are concerned about using the current credit card system for renewals.
Last night, Brian Savage from Fun Publications sent out the following email:
“This update is going out to all members:
Due to the issue with processing credit cards we have currently suspended your ability to renew and join the club online. The deadline is coming March 16th for you to be eligible to receive the 2012 free club exclusives.
On Monday, we will have a pdf online on the club site for membership renewals and new memberships that you can mail in with a check or money order. We will process your membership as soon as they arrive.
Please note that the March 16th deadline is a hard deadline (in house) so please make sure any mail is in the postal system by March 9th.
If you want to receive the free club exclusive Footloose or Man of Evil, your membership must be active as of March 16th. At the bottom of this email you will find your expiration date. If it is after March 16, 2012, you are good to go for the 2012 figure.
Also, please log into the club club site <https://www.gijoeclub.com/club/> and ensure you have the figure selected you want to receive for this year, either 3 3/4″ or 12″.

So the membership deadline remains the same if you want your Footloose, but they will have PDF forms available today so a check or money order can be used.
I wish there was an option for “no figure but receive newsletter”. I didn’t want Lifeline. I don’t want Footloose. I do enjoy being a “member” and I love reading the monthly newsletter of comics, reviews, and sneak peeks.
And worse than not wanting the 2012 figure… I was a victim of this CC fraud and need to find find a check or MO to renew.

I would like the figure and the newsletter, and I was actually going to renew this past weekend… and now the online payment option issue has blocked me. I will have to make sure I do the snail-mail option within the week.
It would be helpful regarding membership if the LINK to the option for snail mail was somewhere on their or this page….
So now their solution for the membership fees is to trust in the USPS (haven’t had much good luck there, personally)? It could get lost, delivery delays, or not even opened in time, there are just too many potential issues with this method, in my opinion. Next part is to either get gouged further by purchasing a money order or potentially surrender your bank account information as well (if you are paying by check)? I guess getting people’s credit card info just isn’t enough. What manner of @$$-Hattery is this?
I was all too ready to become a paid member straight away only a few short weeks ago. I had not yet become one previously and really wished I could have gotten Dial Tone. The Footloose and nearly all of the FSS figures had me interested enough to take the leap. Now, that leap looks far too rocky and the water looks far, far too cold. Forget about this guy becoming a newly paying member of this Micky Mouse Club. (Hehe, see what I did there?)
