Ever since the Night Force set was revealed a few years ago, fans had been clamoring online for regular versions of the Night Force characters (which is why it seems so strange that many folks are complaining about that very thing happening with the FSS this time around).
One of those characters was Psyche Out.
Well, the Club has revealed the FSS 3.0 Psyche Out today, and he’s a bit different accessory-wise from the Night Force version. He still has the wrist radars and the hand-held, but he no longer has the PoC Recondo backpack (which frankly was a fantastic touch by the Club for the Con version) and he comes with a Zartan backpack instead.

I like him, but if only his hair was dark brown like the club set.
Blond for life, yo.
I’m not sure why it would seem strange to hear complaining about the reissues in original colors… clearly it was not the same people “clamoring” for them as those that are complaining. I think the revelation that there will be 5 (!) repeat characters in one sub has only exacerbated the situation. That means that if you were not one who wanted these (and I am not), nearly half the sub is uninteresting right off the bat. That’s a tough $130+ pill to swallow, and very disappointing to those of us who were hoping for a wide selection of unreleased (in ME format) characters.
Fair enough, but there are certainly enough fans who either didn’t get the Night Force set, or who are really interested in the normal colors that re-selling the ones you don’t want shouldn’t be difficult at all.
I know I posted about the $, but for me personally it’s not really about the money… far more about the limited release slots left in the life of the ME Joe line, and the fact that they are filling them with characters we already have good versions of. I want Pathfinder, Gridiron, more Eco Warriors, Interrogator, Raptor, Crystal Ball, or pretty much any other character we haven’t gotten in ME yet…
I don’t disagree. Heck, if I had my way, they’d be forgoing vintage rehashes entirely and going in exciting new directions, but I certainly won’t argue with your lists as well. I just think the Club has to acquiesce to what the “majority” wants and many times the vocal majority don’t represent the actual majority. I will say that in my experience there were many, many people asking for the normal versions of the Night Force characters, so I think that justifies the Club’s thought process there. I can see why they did it.
Agreed. The polls seem to show that there are more people happy with all the repaints than not. As unfathomable as that is to me, it’s hard to argue with the Club’s decision. Though I suspect if they had done one or two in each sub they would have gotten the approval of those who wanted them without rankling the ones who didn’t as badly.
