When our Joe fan brethren to the North discovered the elusive third wave of Rise of Cobra Alpha vehicles, I’m sure emails started flying…luckily, my long time buddy Ed hooked me up real quick, and about 10 days after I was certain I’d never see Alpha Wave 3, I had a full set of them sitting in my grubby hands. So, of course, I’m gonna review ’em.
The first of four reviews are being posted today on the Rise of Cobra Review Page… check it out right here!
I was personally more interested in the Desert Rockslide and Tiger Claw than this. The figure looks great, but those knee joints on the Ice viper figure were a big turn off for me. My almost 5 year old son almost never plays with the mole pod he has, so I have no desire to acquire another one. The fact that the figure doesn’t even fit into the vehicle, what was Hasbro thinking?
Personally I’ll save my money and hope that the new head gear finds its way onto a more interesting figure.
What you need to do is purchase the boxed vehicle/driver and then convince the seller to just rip out the figure and send it loose for like $5 or less. It’ll save you $10 – $15 in shipping for worthless junk.
Man, i really was hoping to get this one, to use the Volcano Viper as a Toxo Viper! but since the RoC are still in 90 pesos on the shelves, there is no chance in hell these would come to mexico…………
The figure is definitely the only redeeming quality (at $8 on Canadian shelves its cheaper than the price single figures were). I kind of like the red tint to the windows.
I can’t believe it took them to the third repaint to finally include a sticker for the control console though. Sheesh!
Hey, wow, they added a sticker for the computer console this time around! Talk about quality!
Seriously though, the Mole Pod and the rest of the first run 15 dollar vehicles were so…ugh. Barely any work was put into them, the figures came with no weapons, and as I stated above, the first Mole Pod didn’t even have a sticker for the computer! But that’s okay, there WERE stickers that told people not to work on the vehicle while it was in motion. That’s always important information.
Thanks for the review Justin, (I guess I’m really the only one who liked these modern buzz boars, but hey, How well does the figure actually fit in this).
Man, I really want a Volcano Viper, but more to use as a modern Red Shadows Flame-Thrower specialist. In fact, I think I’ve decided that all the RoC Cobra figs are going to become my Red Shadow army…a little paint and some gear-swaps and viola…new army!
Thank you Chinese Ebayer seller who hooked me up with a Volcano Viper! This figure really is awesome! I hope they can work it in somewhere in the POC line-up (though if not, I have a nice, rare piece for my collection).
Those Volcano Vipers are the ONLY thing I regret we did not get from Wave 3. Even though their function is questionable at best, they just have “the look”. As for the vehicle…if the Mole Pod wasn’t insulting enough (the blunted spring-loaded firing tip on the front is unforgivable on an already bad vehicle design) now they give us one that can drill through a volcano??? Tell ya what, let’s just go one step farther and say Cobra has a Terrordrome located on the sun!
