This has been a straggler, but I finally got the Desert-Viper added to the Rise of Cobra Reviews Page. Check it out right here.
Rise of Cobra Wave 5 Desert-Viper reviewed

Found some of these at a Wal Mart during Christmas & took a good long look at them before passing. Yes, they do use the fantastic Elite Viper mold, but the accessories are just too weak; I’d rather spend the $5 on another Elite Viper instead.
Also, I think the goggles look terrible on the helmet and don’t match up to the visor. And what’s the point of having goggles over a visor anyways? (Yes, I know the original Vipers have the same issue, but I can overlook it in that case because the Viper looks cool.)
Still, they are better than the Neo Vipers.
Thanks for the review!
Still can’t find these nor Kamakura. I’m bummed. I like this fig, from the pics.
I think it’s pretty safe to say that any RoC figure is better than the Neo Vipers. Man, what were they thinking when designing them? That’s one of the most awful designs ever!
Amen, Neon Viper!
I love this figure. I like his coloring better than the standard Elite Viper, and I think the vest work way better than the normal Elite Viper armor. The goggles and scarf are an awesome touch. I wish he had the standard Elite Viper weapons though.
day 195…still no sign of kamakura….nevertheless, i shall keep looking, thusly ignoring the slowly diminishing flame of hope that vexes me every time i fail on the toy aisle.

this is a pretty cool figure, but personally i found the head from the mars officer out of the kmart 4 pack looks better on the body. the colors match perfectly!
The Desert Viper rocks – uses the excellent Elite Viper base with some interesting gear. With the amount of edged weapons that this guy has, he’s going to get a new role in my twisted Joe-verse.
The Zartan head from the TRU Joe troop builder 5-pack looks excellent on this body!
I always thought that the reason the Desert-Viper has so many bladed weapons is because they’re less likely to overheat than a firearm. They’re also likely more practical for hunting for food in the desert than a gun.
I still think there’s a bit too many blades with these guys, though. The axes could’ve been left out, maybe in favor of an Elite-Viper MP5K.
I’ve got 2 of them; favorite Viper from the line. I agree, goggles over the visor is ridiculous. Great weapons choices–big gun, axe, swords; awesome colors.
This guy looks pretty cool; first ROC Cobra I’ve been tempted to army build. The Elite Viper Head is growing on me, but I still hate the standard Neo-viper head.
