Over on HissTank.com, Gyre-Viper revealed some descriptions (which were then followed by actual images, mirrored below) of potential upcoming vehicles…and as usual, I’m pretty impressed. Pretty impressed only because the apparent second wave of Rip Attack vehicles looks as uninspired as the first (especially those figures… yuck), but the retooled and modified Ghost Hawk and that motorcycle that looks to be strongly Dreadnok related are both balls out!
The Ghost Hawk was pretty much defined by those crazy rear stabilizers, which have been tooled way down to a more streamlined exhaust engine…while that motorcycle is just pure sickness. Love the blades, love the dual handlebar weaponry. Hot damn that’s a freaking awesome looking little bike. Kind of tough to tell what the deal with the driver is, but still looks great all the same.
Of course the real question is…will we see this at retail? It’s obvious a drastic theme shift is going on at Hasbro with some scrambling to redefine the way we’ll see G.I. Joe in 2010, and it’ll be interesting to see if these make the cut. There’s a lot of new tooling there, and obviously they’re pretty far along in the production process, so signs point to “yes”, but just something to watch for…maybe we’ll learn something more at Toy Fair in just under a month. I’ll certainly be on pins and needles waiting for it.

Wow, yet another snake eyes rip attack vehicle. The shape is kind of interesting, but color me underwhelmed. The Ghost Hawk is kinda neat, I would like to see the finished product to be sure though. The Bike is awesome. I know someone who will buy enough to outfit ALL of his Dreadnoks. He is currently using 1:18th Die Cast Harley Davidson models for it. You know… A Zartan, Leader of the Dreadnoks fig would be nice…
I need that new Ghost Hawk like I need to breathe. Seriously.
jusssstin. you’re a demi god if not a full blown deity.
God I will be soooooooo broke buying those Drednok Trikes.
I actually really like those Rip Attack vehicles. Yeah the drivers are kinda meh, but after getting the Tiger Snake this week I’m actually looking forward to these two.
The trike and Ghost Hawk are both great, I like that the Ghost Hawk seems to have drawn a bit from Sigma Six DRagonhawk design (the rear wings and the skid design). I’d probably end up taking off a bunch of the crap on that trike, but the base is solid.
You know, all of these look pretty decent. That re-done Ghost Hawk is very cool, I might even supplant the 25th one, depending on the color. That trike is freaking sweet, though I’m interested in seeing the figure in it’s actual colors. And even those Rip-it vehicles have potential!
Hey, that little hover thingy (the other rip atack vehicle) is pretty sweet! I’d actually get that one.
Otherwise, it’s cool to see more stuff like the retooled Firebat; the Ghost Hawk seems to have similar attachments! They’ve been doing some cool stuff with extra molded peices.
You just saved Friday.
They all look like M.A.S.K. figures and vehicles in Gijoe size to me.
Well I guess I remain in the minority but those new Rip Attack Vehicles are awesome. I especially love the Cobra snowmobile with the Firefly/Elite-Viper mashup driver. Too bad I doubt the gimmick will function on snow. :p
The hoverthingy is less impressive, more because of the Matt Trakker with the Snake-Eyes head deal that leaves him stump-necked. I also don’t really see the point of an aerial vehicle rolling along the ground.
And hey, the finally made the Skyhawk less of a deathtrap! Spiffy!
I’d also like to point out how unpleasable Justin is. First wave of Rip Attack vehicles featured straight-release of existing figures, more or less (Snake-Eyes got frankensteined from his two first toys but still)… and now they’re making new figures for them and he’s still not happy.
Strikes me as odd because when the snowmobile driver’s pics first surfaced he seemed rather interested in it.
The Ghost Hawk looks so good, you can even forgive the spring-loaded launchers. The engines also take a cue from the Osprey-like drop ships the Joes used in the movie (now why didn’t they give us THAT vehicle?)
Sorry, but the “Dreadnok Tricycle” looks more like a Batman toy than GI Joe. Get rid of all those “blades”, and I might actually buy one.
The Rip Attack vehicles aren’t bad, but aren’t great either. That snowmobile looks so plain.
Curious to see if any of these see the light of day. 2010 will be an interesting year.
That almost looks like Freight’s spiked gauntlet thing with the motorcycle.

Looks like any future Rip Attack assortments will feature one cool vehicle and one crappy one. I rather like the Tiger Snake, but that Joe motorcycle is hideous. And I like the little hover jet thing, but hate the snowmobile.
‘nok bike is cool, but I don’t like the blades on the back and while the idea of the handlebar shotguns is cool, they’re too big. I’ll definitely pick this one up though. Curious who the driver is . . .
Ghost hawk is great, I love the new tail and skids (very reminiscent of the Sigma Six Dragonhawk). I wouldn’t have though Hasbro could make me buy yet another release of that vehicle, but damned if this one doesn’t look nice.
Honestly, if the money was spent on the tooling, we’ll see it at some point.
The driver of the motorcycle looks like Shipwreck’s body, at least in part. Makes me wonder if he might not be a Dreadnok of sorts, given the add-on accessory on his chest/face.
Okay, so, it looks like they confirmed that these ARE coming out next year in the Q&As:

“TNI: Will there be any new Dreadnok figures released in 2010? Question By TNI reader Inggasson
Hasbro: We have a new Storm Rider and Doom Cycle vehicle coming up in the Pursuit of Cobra line.”
So, I guess this is ‘Storm Rider’, a new Dreadnok. And the vehicle looks to fit the name of “Doom Cycle” pretty well.
I’m guessing that the final version of Storm Rider will have all sorts of arm tattoos and such, to downplay the ‘Shipwreck repaint’ factor that’s already somewhat helped by the entirely new head and mask.
“I’d also like to point out how unpleasable Justin is. First wave of Rip Attack vehicles featured straight-release of existing figures, more or less (Snake-Eyes got frankensteined from his two first toys but still)… and now they’re making new figures for them and he’s still not happy.

Ha! I’ve been called many things in my 10 years of being a web admin, but “unpleasable” is a first! 😉
Anyone agree with that?
Well I’m no big fan of Snake-Eyes In Matt Trakker Cosplay, but that snowmobile driver is hella neat. I don’t see how he’s “uninspired”.
He’s DEFINITELY more inspired than “Lift-Ticket in the same colors with a different head” that’s piloting that Skyhawk retool.
“Well I’m no big fan of Snake-Eyes In Matt Trakker Cosplay, but that snowmobile driver is hella neat. I don’t see how he’s “uninspired”.”
First off, I think the Snake Eyes in Matt Trakker Cosplay IS the snowmobile driver. The other guy? You mean the Cobra Gunship Firefly with Elite-Viper’s head slapped on it? That’s “inspired”? Sorry, I don’t see it. That Gunship Firefly is one of the weakest figures in the Rise of Cobra line, and an Elite-Viper head certainly doesn’t fix that.
Uh, Justin, the snowmobile has a big Cobra logo and the Gunship Firefly/Elite-Viper hybrid has Cobra sigils on his sleeves.
Snake-Eyes In Matt Trakker Cosplay has a GIJoe sigil on his shirt, and the hoverthingie has a Joe logo on its launcher.
I doubt the Joe guy would drive the Cobra vehicle and vice versa.
And I like the snowmobile driver. Firefly’s body is one of the nicer ones from the 25th and still works in modern settings, the Elite-Viper helmet is cool and the vest and helmet from the Gunship are some of my favorite driver gear in ROC. I’ve got no objection to their combination into something new.
