Today rounds off the 5-day review extraveganza for the Shout! Factory Complete Series DVD set. Yes, it’s pricey, but in my opinion, from the presentation to the content, this is one set you don’t want to miss. I was thinking the first sixteen discs would be released as Seasons 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, and 2.2. Now I’m hoping that isn’t the case because I’d rather collect the individual sets (not a fan of big box sets – don’t like the price and don’t like the difficulty in storage), but I also don’t want to miss any of the PSAs. Oh well, guess I’ll have to wait and see what comes out in the next three sets.
Thanks for the great reviews!
Who are the voice actors in the roundtable?
i already have the first half of the series on DVD thanks to the earlier Rhino releases. What I’m hoping for is that Season 2 is released on its own alongwith the Movie so I can the whole series on DVD without having to sell my soul.
Justin:
Do you think there is a shortage or limited quantity of this set? I would love to have this set and even sold my original 3 box sets and several toys on Ebay to earn money for it, but have had too many “emergency” bills, school supplies for my kids, and the TRU Rise of Cobra figures that I had to have, lol, etc. come up. Do you think I should still be about to order the collector’s set, say in mid-September?
Every single PSA isn’t included. Shout Factory couldn’t find like 10 of them.
And speaking of PSAs, for anybody wondering, the only exclusive content included on the discs in the big set that won’t be included in the seperate sets (Seasons 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2) are the voice cast roundtable and the Larry Hama interview.
There’s been some chatter about re-cuts and long-standing edits being retained in the new dvd releases…for example, the scene in No Place Like Springfield 2 when Mara and Althea are aiming weapons at Shipwreck at the end and the girl says, “Daddy, you’re such a drip.”…Have edits like that one been kept on this set or not?
