I’ll warn you right up front… the Rise of COBRA reviews are going to be pretty frenetic as I kind of scoop up figures here and there, but for better or worse, the first five figure reviews are uploaded now! Check out the brand spanking new Rise of COBRA Reviews Page with links to all of the reviews I’ve posted so far:
- The Baroness
- Destro
- Shipwreck
- Scarlett (Reactive Armor)
- Sgt. Stone
Overall, I’m quite impressed. There are plenty of kinks to still work out, but by and large, these figures have retained the increased mobility and articulation of the Anniversary figures, but are infinitely more “playable”, the feel more durable, and more interactive. All the benefits of the Anniversary styling, with a fraction of the drawbacks from a “toy” perspective. Yeah…I’m definitely impressed.
I think once Hasbro kinds of burns through the typical Reactive Armor look and the various shades of blacks and grays, the design aesthetic could get VERY cool, and I think the best is still to come. I’ll be looking forward to it, and I’ll be looking forward to doing the reviews for it.
as of the time i am typing this, i have yet to read the sgt. stone review, so im not sure it this is mentioned or not.
it is my personal belief that sgt. stone, perhaps unnamed in the movie, is the character that brenden fraser is playing.
i dont have stone, and quite frankly wasnt planning to get him. however, with TRU having two for $10 this weekend, i may reconsider. in fact, theres a few i am reconsidering with that sale…
ripcord (Delta6)
deep six (may put shipwrecks diving gear on him. wish theyd stop using the torpedo body)
sgt. stone (didnt want another beret, but after the review and for $5…)
zartan (im curious of the story behind the MP uniform. i have a general idea but may wait until the movie to get that figure.)

I agree totally. Stone is, in fact, the only character I’ve seen mentioned in the movie novelization that isn’t already a known character (except for a certain medical officer, but I don’t think it’s him)…
I’m almost convinced this is the case.
Stone is a cool homage (to me) to the Stone from Sigma 6, but honestly, his head REALLY looks like Falcon to me! I don’t know what they were going for with the comic pack Falcon, but that scrunched up face didn’t look a thing like him. When you look at a pic of the original Falcon and compare it to Stone, though, they look pretty similar!
Anyway, regarding the reviews: I thank you for your praise for my action shots, but I still don’t have the photoshop skills (or photoshop) to pull off those awesome gun firing pics that you always do! Then again, I did learn a lot from reading your dios back in the JvC days.
Great pics and reviews, you convinced me to buy Sgt. Stone
Stone and Destro were the first two I purchased and while the accessories were not the “sell” for me, the two figures are simply AWESOME in any era.
Stone is what I call “Not Flint” around here. I realize they’re “different” characters, but give Stone a trench-broom and put him in a helicoptor, and he’s my Flint. For now.
