So over the past couple of weeks I’ve been pumping out reviews…everything from Rise of COBRA figures to Shout! Factory DVD sets. Well, the trend continues this week as I present another special weeklong review series. This time, for the COBRA Island 7-Packs.
Starting tonight (Sunday) and rolling through next Saturday, I will be posting two figures per day, one Joe and one COBRA. The same, full featured, tons of images reviews you expect from GeneralsJoes. To check out the first two reviews, click the links below. As more get posted, the 25th Anniversary section will be updated with links as well.
Enjoy!
Interesting. Wasn’t expecting a new head on Wet-Suit.
And by the way, the tooling isn’t entirely Torpedo’s. The arms come from the “original 13” body, probably because they had the pouches on the biceps that match Wet-Suit’s. Nice little change to make the figure look a little more different from Torpedo.
Shameful. The dust on that Moray. tsk-tsk-tsk…
I’m really loving the look of that Lamprey. I’d love a removable helmet, sure, but the visor coming off is good enough. And it looks AWESOME! Can’t wait to get mine from BBTS. They’ve been in my Pile O’ Loot for a couple weeks. Didn’t want them shipped out when they became available since they’d arrive while I was out of town.
Wet-Suit will be getting the custom treatment from me. Provided I can find a way to paint up a helmet for him, he’ll be old-school looking as soon as he’s out of the box. The new Duke-face head was a nice touch and even though it’s clearly Duke at least he’s not one of the Torpedo brothers (Torpedo, v.2 Deep Six, RoC Deep Six).
Hope you keep the environment-themed pairings for these reviews as much as possible. Seeing the Lamprey and Wet-Suit on the same day is very cool. Dare I suggest the rest?
Range-Viper/Recondo (jungle troops)
Strato-Viper/Ripcord (air troops)
Night Creeper/Hit and Run (cuz they’re both sneaky)
Alley-Viper/Zap (cuz they’re both old-school cool)
Dr. Mindbender/Chuckles (cuz they both have insanely whacky outfits)
B.A.T./Outback (cuz, well they’re the only ones left)
Hmm…I like those ideas. I just might do that, depending on how quick I can write ’em up. :shifty:
And lay off about the Moray! I have no display space in the house anymore, everything’s on shelves in the garage. Wait til you see the damn Night Raven. Thing looks gray.
Are you sure that Wet Suit’s mask isn’t a new but similar tooling to Torpedo’s? If I’m remembering right Torpedo’s mask only has one connecting hose in the very front and is less angular than this version’s
The mask is indeed a brand-new tooling.
You know, I was thinking about this Wet Suit without a helmet as being a pre-1986 version of his gear. If you really have to have a helmet you could do a little modification and paint on the RoC Flash figure’s helmet for your Wet Suit.
Oh, and btw Justin, your response is, “Hey! Do I need to remind you that is ‘Stealth Dust’?!”
