Heh…well, I’d originally planned to do this post shortly after the initial one, but holy crap.  Got caught up doing some other stuff.  Originally this new format was designed so I could talk about the importance and the unimportance of collecting action figures, but I’ve been so busy talking about collecting action figures I haven’t been able to talk about it!  What does that say about me?  :shifty:

Anyway…I’ve inundated everyone with talk about toys (and whining about Tom Brady) enough over the past few days, so lets talk TV.

About a week ago I ran down the list of returning TV series that I was excited to see back on the air, but I didn’t talk about new shows coming up.  Since we’re about a week into the new season (at least if you use The Shield as a barometer…which, by the way, was freaking awesome last week) I figured I should touch on new shows as well.

1 – Fringe.  Produced by JJ Abrams (of Alias and Lost fame) this is the story of an FBI agent turned paranormal investigator who is suddenly thrust into this world she never knew existed.  I actually got a chance to watch the pilot a month or so ago ( :shifty: ) and my initial feelings were somewhat mixed.  But as the extended pilot went on, I grew more and more enthralled, and now it’s a show I’ll check out when it airs.  I have a suspision it may not last long on network TV, but it has some potential, so I’m going to give it a shot.
Start Date: September 9th (tomorrow)

2 – Sons of Anarchy; This one actually started last week, though I haven’t even caught the premier yet.  Honestly I’m not convinced I actually want to watch this one, they just keep cramming it down my throat during The Shield, so I think I’m hypnotized.  It’s been getting decent publicity, so I may check it out, though the last time the American TV watching public and myself agreed on anything was probably a good 15 years ago while Cheers was on.  :\

3 – True Blood?  I’ve actually got a big question mark on this one.  It’s already aired it’s first episode, though I haven’t seen it yet.  I’m a sucker for the supernatural, and a sucker for Vampires/Werewolves, but I can’t tell if this is just some cheesy soap opera with vampires in it or what.  If so, I’ve got ZERO interest.  If there’s actually some decent suspense and/or action, I’ll check it out.  As it stands I have no idea what to expect, but I’ll probably try to catch it next time it’s on.  I’m a big fan of Anna Paquin, so that’s a plus, but I can’t quite register this on the “cheesemeter” quite yet.

4 – Knight Rider; Lord help me.  As long as it’s significantly better than that crapfest TV movie I’ll be all right.  If it’s even close to that bad, I won’t make it through a single episode.  God knows I only lasted fifteen minutes of the TV movie.  Fingers crossed, I guess, though my heart certainly won’t be broken if I miss this one.

5 – Dollhouse; This is it.  This is “THE SHOW” on my list of new shows, though it’s not airing until mid-season, probably in January.  I’m a monstrous Joss Whedon fan, and this show sounds very, VERY cool.  I’m almost giddy.  Of course the likely chain of events is that the show is awesome, I fall in love, Fox messes with scheduling halfway through the first season, folks lose track of it, Fox blames the writing, show gets chopped, wash, rinse, repeat.  *sigh*

Anyway…still willing to give it a shot, if only for an hour of Eliza Dushku per week (that isn’t Tru Calling).
Start Date: Uncertain.  January, ’09 I believe.

I think that about covers it.  *Looks up*  *Looks at post from last week*

Where in the hell am I going to find the time to watch all that?!  I’m lucky if I watch 2-3 shows every season, now I’m practically a couch potato…  somehow I predict this will only last a couple of weeks, I just wonder what the first victims of the prune will be…

$5.00 on Knight Rider.
