We’re on the verge of some huge events in G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #200, and with Paul Allor wrapping up his run on G.I. Joe, what’s up next for our American Heroes?
Turns out… not a whole heck of a lot. 🙁
May solicitations have hit from IDW Publishing, and we have one title on the list. G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #202 throws us back into the RAH world, but as of this moment, there doesn’t appear to be a main IDW-verse G.I. Joe title on the list. We knew that Paul Allor’s run would last for four issues (which should wrap in April) but there is currently no apparent heir to that G.I. Joe throne.
That doesn’t mean there isn’t a plan in place, but apparently that plan will not involve the month of May.
I’ve reached out to IDW to see if I can figure out what’s up, but until I get a response, check out the solicitations for May, 2014 after the jump.

The day has finally come… we see our first solicitations from G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #200, which promises big changes and a new direction for the Marvel title. Larry Hama and SL Gallant have been cranking it up a notch with recent issues, and I’m really looking forward to seeing this storyline resolve itself. I love these solicitations… it’s great to take a look into the future and see what’s coming from IDW Publishing in the coming months, especially with this new “generation” of G.I. Joe, so to speak. IDW Publishing has released their solicitations for June, 2013, which covers some very cool looking books from the G.I. Joe title, Special Missions, Cobra Files, and of course G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero.

From the looks of the solicitation list, April is going to be the first gung ho month of the IDW G.I. Joe revamp, with all three titles hitting in that particular month. Tons of exclusive covers, lots happening in every title. Not to mention the Hama Real American Hero title is bringing in some very familiar faces.
We get some background into Duke’s history this month, and it occurs to me that this is something that was lacking a bit in the mainstream G.I. Joe title previously. Sure, we got quite a bit of backstory for the team itself, but do we even really know who these people are? Why should we care about them? What are their motivations? I’m looking forward to seeing a little bit more depth to these characters. Maybe a smaller cast of characters will help drive that.

The next evolution of G.I. Joe comics is upon us, and the solicitations for February, 2013 reflect this new shift. With no new monthly Cobra or Snake Eyes titles, the IDW universe officially moves on to 2013 and beyond with the first issues of Special Missions and the Cobra Files hitting in March and April respectively.
