Epic series of G.I. Joe comic covers taking shape at Robert Atkins blog

The whole concept of a scene that spans multiple covers is something that I’ve really loved.  I can only imagine the challenge involved for an artist in making that kind of scene work.  It’s because of this that I find what Robert Atkins is doing over on his blog so fascinating.

He’s really laying out step-by-step what is going into his work on the covers for the series of G.I. Joe and Cobra issues soon to be released from IDW.  He is building a very cool looking scenario featuring a number of different characters in a number of different situations, yet making it all blend together quite nicely.

Check out his progress post right here (where he goes through the first two covers) and make sure you keep checking back as I’m sure he’ll post cover #3 as soon as he is able.  Very cool stuff from Robert Atkins.

IDW G.I. Joe release solicitations for December, 2012

IDW Publishing has revealed the following G.I. Joe titles, which are slated to be released in December, 2012.  The next installments of G.I. Joe, Cobra, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, as well as G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero are the expected ones, as well as some collected volumes, too.

Does anyone else actually remember a time when there weren’t G.I. Joe comics on shelves?  Seems like so long ago, I hope we don’t take this for granted.  Great stuff coming up by IDW.

Interview with IDW Infestation writer Mike Raicht

As much as it would seem that supernatural universes, zombies, and Cthulu would blend with G.I. Joe as effectively as oil and water, somehow the creative folks behind the two landmark series’ have managed to make it work, and work exceptionally well.

Flawlessly integrating these very other worldly ideas into the hyper-realistic world of IDW’s G.I. Joe universe is no small feat, yet Mike Raicht has done it with flash and flair, showing an amazing ability to use fan favorite characters and obscure characters alike in very unique, yet true ways.

The guys from A Real American Hero.com spoke with Mike Raicht about his work with the G.I. Joe world, and it is an incredibly interesting interview.  Kudos to ARAH.com for making it happen.
