I’m not sure how I feel about the whole “season” breakdown when it comes to comics, but it does help keep things straight, especially when three major restructurings have happened over the past few years. Considering IDW has been keeping the same continuity, the only way things can really be divided is by “Season” so in that regard I think it makes sense.
Issue #1 worked towards building this new “universe” so to speak, and now that G.I. Joe is in the thick of it, this issue serves to continue moving the story along a bit, while also trying to build some of these new personalities.

I love these solicitations… it’s great to take a look into the future and see what’s coming from IDW Publishing in the coming months, especially with this new “generation” of G.I. Joe, so to speak. IDW Publishing has released their solicitations for June, 2013, which covers some very cool looking books from the G.I. Joe title, Special Missions, Cobra Files, and of course G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero.
Excellent stuff to look forward to. Click the “Read the Rest of the Story” link below to see the full list of solicitations.

With all of the excitement surrounding IDW’s big G.I. Joe relaunch, a title has been a little lost in the shuffle, mostly because it’s the one title that isn’t changing at all. That’s right, 188 issues into it and still going strong, Larry Hama and SL Gallant’s G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero hits us this Wednesday (that’s today!) in comic stores everywhere, and as we’ve come to expect every month, does a terrific job continuing on the legacy of a Real American Hero.

Wednesday is another new comic book day, and thankfully among the rash of changes to G.I. Joe titles, IDW is leaving A Real American Hero alone. It’s weeks like this that make me happy about that!
Check out the preview below, and stay tuned for a review of this issue hitting soon. It’s another great one!

We’ve been talking about it for months, and finally, yesterday the new G.I. Joe #1 debuted at comic shops across the nation. With a drastic new direction, there was bound to be some polar opposite reactions. My own opinion was pretty positive, and the reaction throughout the comic buying populace (G.I. Joe fandom aside) seems to be good.
Writer of the new title, Fred VanLente made the rounds to a few different places today, including Multiversity Comics where he spoke with Chad Bowers about the make up of the team and expectations for the title going forward. Some awesome character-based filecards are woven throughout the article as well.
By far the biggest draw to me, though, was his visit with Chris Sims over at Comics Alliance. VanLente has a long interview with established G.I. Joe fan sims, and actually debuts some images from the upcoming second issue of G.I. Joe! As much as I was positive about the first issue, the little preview we see over at Comics Alliance gets me even more excited. Without spoiling too much, the character appearances in Issue #2 are very exciting, and not only that, but the way they look is just as exciting. They are certainly using some inspiration from very cool sources.
