- Initial fan reaction to Roadblock’s reveal was mixed, citing his sci-fi weapon and golden trim as a divergence from G.I. Joe’s military roots. Whether or not the vehement backlash to this figure resulted in changes to the G.I. Joe: Classified aesthetic remain unclear.
- Initially the design team mentioned a desire to blend G.I. Joe with a video game inspiration, similar to Fortnite, in hopes of drawing in a broader, younger audience. That tact appeared to diverge relatively quickly, to the delight of most fans.
