G.I. Joe and the Loyal Subjects – Les Schettkoe signing event at BAIT

This Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 5-8PM, BAIT will host an in-store event to celebrate the release of the GI Joe x The Loyal Subjects 3″ Mini Collectible Series and the GI Joe: Retaliation film.

Designed by Les Schettkoe, the GI Joe x The Loyal Subjects collection features articulated 3″ vinyl representations of classic characters like Cobra Commander, Destro, Duke, Snake Eyes, Zartan, Storm Shadow, Gung-Ho, Snow Job, and three mystery chase figures. The series is packaged in blind boxes that retail for $12.99 each.

Schettkoe will be in-store to help launch the figures, offering fans a chance to get their vinyls signed by the mind that created them.

This is a unique opportunity for G.I. Joe fans to interface with the artists who have created these excellent products and to get a first look at the Loyal Subjects G.I. Joe licensed offerings.  BAIT is located in Diamond Bar, California (further details are in the attached image).

Thanks to the Loyal Subjects for passing this information along!

GeneralsJoes reviews GIJCC Figure Subscription Service ***SPOILER ALERT*** Part 2

Yesterday I covered the first figure in the most recent shipment of the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club Figure Subscription Service.  Today, I’m reviewing the second one.  Combined these two figures have been far and away the best two figures released in the FSS thus far, and reviewing them both was a blast.

Great figures, great packaging, great accessories.  Lots to love here, and I’m really excited that the Collectors’ Club invested the time and money to bring these to us, and I really can’t wait to see and hear more about FSS Series two!  I’m trying to avoid spoilers here for folks who still don’t want to know, so just click the link below to get to the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club Review Page:

GeneralsJoes reviews GIJCC Figure Subscription Service **SPOILER ALERT**

Now these figures have been in mailboxes for like 2 weeks… has it been long enough that I can avoid spoilers?  I know there are a number of folks who are drastically avoiding the discovery of which figures are shipping when, and I’m trying to honor those requests.

I kind of have to talk about them eventually, though, right?

Images added to Discount Store Duke and Cobra Trooper Reviews

A couple of folks had questions about certain elements of the two reviews I mentioned above, so I took a couple extra pictures to show case some things.  People were inquiring about the look of Breaker using Duke’s body, so I whipped something up really quickly.  I did the best I could without cutting off his belt.  I also did a comparison image with recent Cobra Troopers that folks had been asking for.

Check out the two reviews to see the images at the links below, or the images are also mirrored in this story:

Cool interview with a former Hasbro/G.I. Joe artist on Leaky Suit Brigade

Doomsun sends word to me that he has posted an interview of former Hasbro artist Andrei Koribanics on his site Leaky Suit Brigade.  Mr. Koribanics was apparently an artist who worked alongside Ron Rudat and Bill Merklein back in the heyday of G.I. Joe production, from 1983 – 1985.

He’s got some very cool stories to tell and it’s always awesome to hear from some of the architects of your childhood.

Check out the interview over on the Leaky Suit Brigade and thanks to Doomsun for the information.

What’s on Joe Mind celebrates Episode 74 with Lady Jaye herself!

All it took were a few words, and you could instantly recognize the voice from our youth.  Mary MacDonald-Lewis joined us for a fantastic action-packed interview, bringing some of her classy Sunbow Lady Jaye style to the show.  We talk about her experiences with the animated series, her real life relationship with Bill “Flint” Ratner, and whether or not she thinks Adrianne Palicki can fill her shoes.

Also joining us on this episode is Carson from the epic G.I. Joe site, 3DJoes!  He talks technology and what drew him to build his site and where he thinks it might go in the future.  Along with this we cover news, and get fired up about G.I. Joe: Retaliation!  Come join us on Podbean, or use the embedded players below.  As always click the “Read the Rest of the Story” link for the show notes.
