Big thanks as always to kennywr22 for digging up all of this great info. He found a nice article on how the ratings measured up for The Hub last weekend with the debuts of Transformers: Prime and G.I. Joe: Renegades. I think the term “pretty damn good” applies here.
According to this article, not only did the debut of these two new programs drive ratings up triple digits for the fledgling network, but they also drove the Hub to lead all of kids cable networks in co-viewing. Click the “Read the rest of this entry” link below for the full run down: (more…)
To the delight of many Joefans without The Hub, Hubworld.com has posted the video for the first episode of G.I. Joe: Renegades! EDIT – They’ve now posted Part 2 as well! That’s some quick turnaround time!
Check them out right here.
TVGuide.com has finally updated their G.I. Joe: Renegades Episode Guide, this time with some information on the upcoming Homecoming 2-Parter, which includes Episodes 6 and 7. According to TVGuide.com (and other online listings sites) this two-parter will air on Christmas Eve.
The following details about these two episodes are as follows:
Episode 6 – Part 1 of 2. Duke protects his family, which has been targeted by Cobra, while the team sneaks into Cobra’s Christmas party.
Episode 7 – Conclusion of 2. Baroness tries to hijack the Joes as they are being transported into custody by Flint and Lady Jaye so that she can gain control of the secrets stored on Cobra’s drive.
The information about Duke’s family has been revealed before, but the tidbits about the Joes being taken into custody is certainly news! Can’t wait to see how it evolves.
Combing The Hub this week as a new episode of G.I. Joe: Renegades is slated to air Friday night, fellow Renegades fanatic kennywr22 alerted me to a “3 Day Weekend” promo running throughout The Hub’s prime time programming featuring a VERY short bit of new footage from the upcoming episode.
Really, nothing is revealed. It’s pretty much Roadblock kicking down a chain link fence, him and Tunnel Rat unloading on some unseen enemy, and a dude in glasses talking in a British accent. Of course, Major Bludd is supposedly appearing this week… could he have regained an eye and started wearing spectacles? Somehow I doubt it.
Anyway, check out the embedded video below. And for you Renegades haters, don’t worry, my Pursuit of Cobra figures are arriving tomorrow, so I’ll be giving them a healthy dose of love in the coming days as well.
First of all… spoilers are ABOUND.
If you have not yet watched G.I. Joe: Renegades and you don’t want to be spoiled, turn away now. Discussion will be forthcoming about the events in the original 2-parter…
Okay, then. (more…)
So the G.I. Joe: Renegades era has begun, and seems to have begun with a bang. General consensus among the fandom seems to indicate folks are excited about G.I. Joe: Renegades and while reaction is based on some very early and very small samples, people seem enthusiastic about its potential.
But what about the rest of 2010? What can we expect?
Well, using some online TV Listings sites, I compiled a short, but sweet episode guide that has been posted on the sidebar of my G.I. Joe: Renegades Superpage.
According to that guide, new G.I. Joe: Renegades episodes are expected to continue at least through December 24th.
The Hub has also sent along a press release mentioning that there will be a G.I. Joe: Renegades marathon on December 30th from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. That time slot will accommodate 6 episodes, which leaves me wondering what about Episode 7?
At this point, it’s unknown when more episodes of G.I. Joe: Renegades will air after the Christmas Eve showing and subsequent December 30th marathon. One thing that we do know is that after the 5-Part mini-series, Transformers: Prime will not air again until February, 2011. Does the same fate await G.I. Joe: Renegades? Time will tell.
Personally, I much prefer the fact that G.I. Joe is doing an episode per week through the end of the year…then even if there is a gap, it’s only about a one-month gap. Prime, on the other hand, airs until this Friday, and then disappears for at least 8 weeks if not longer.
One thing I do know is that the debut of Renegades has sparked a lot of excitement in certain corners of the fandom, and some great conversation. I know there are plenty of folks who disagree, but I like having this new continuity to spark interest in the fandom once again. It’s refreshing after a lot of the same conversations over the past few years.
