A big thanks to enthusiastic G.I. Joe fan Gary “Gyre Viper” Goggles who was able to get his hands on some early samples of the G.I. Joe: 50th Anniversary product and was kind enough to send it along! I’ll be working on reviews throughout the weekend to be posted next week, but until then, I’ve posted a little sneak peek at the 50th Anniversary Destro on YoJoe.com!
Feel free to ask questions and I’ll try to answer them as best I can as I work towards getting reviews ready to be posted.
Enjoy!

Okay, just when we thought we had it all figured out, thanks to TRU.com, there seems to be more confusion now about exactly how the “Danger at the Docks” SDCC Exclusive 50th Anniversary set will be available.
Over on ToyArk.com a Press Release from Toys “R” Us was revealed, and within the context of that press release, there seems to be an indication that the “Danger at the Docks” G.I. Joe set will NOT be available in Toys “R” Us stores. This has caused some confusion because it’s been pretty widely reported (mostly by me) that this set would not strictly be sold at ComicCon itself.
As it turns out, the most likely result is both stories are true.
Previously there was a Faker/Bizarro 2-Pack from Mattel that was an SDCC Exclusive, but was also available at ToysRUs.com, but was NOT actually in brick & mortar stores. It sounds like that is likely what’s going to happen here. Considering TRU.com themselves has advertised that the Danger at the Docks set will be available online after ComicCon, but they’re also listing it as “Available Only at San Diego Comic-Con” in this latest press release, this sounds like the most likely result.
According to folks I’ve spoken with, the Faker/Bizarro 2 Pack was not especially difficult to get after ComicCon, and certainly far easier than dealing with Hasbro Toy Shop, but at the end of the day, I’d say if you want the Danger at the Docks set, be prepared to jump on it on TRU.com and don’t sit and wait for it to show up at Brick & Mortar. Thankfully SDCC is right around the corner and our long, national nightmare shall soon be over. Check out the full text of the Press Release after the Jump.

The time is coming near! First we got a peek at the G.I. Joe 50th Anniversary product on eBay, and now they’ve started appearing overseas. Courtesy of ACToys via HISSTank.com more in hand images for the upcoming G.I. Joe 50th Anniversary. Some of the images show some more detailed paintwork and quality control than the eBay images showed, though Lady Jaye’s eyes are still looking a bit sloppy. Thankfully, the camouflage on Leatherneck looks to be a bit better, with some on his legs, even if none appears above the waist.
Check out the images below, and start getting ready… looks like retail offerings are coming real soon!
I will fully admit I haven’t been all that riled up about the 50th Anniversary offerings, but at least some of them are looking pretty nice, especially Leatherneck and Destro. Even Beachhead is a good sight better than the original 25th Anniversary version. Cool to see some more in hand images, and nice to see battle stands and file cards making a triumphant return.
Big thanks to ACToys and HISS Tank for the info!

An indication that items are soon to be hitting retail, and overseas seller has posted some auctions for the upcoming G.I. Joe 50th Anniversary product. Every item from Wave 1 (and from Wave 2) are listed for sale, but the more key points are the close up images we have of in hand product. In some cases these overseas sellers get carded samples and open them for sale, so it can be assumed that these are pretty close to production samples. There are certainly some interesting elements to look at with these images.
The vehicle sets have not appeared yet, but the 2 packs and 3 pack images can be seen below.
Thanks to these images there are some clear expectations… the biggest change right off the bat is that Leatherneck appears to be missing his camouflage paint deco. The Cobra Viper is also missing some paint deco on the grenades.
Changes like this are pretty normal throughout the production process, but what is a bit more concerning is an overall “soft” look to some finer details like Lady Jaye’s and Low Light’s eyes.
Granted, these were likely a single sample out of many, so don’t necessarily expect them all to look like this. Early hands on samples are always fun to dissect when they first appear. Check out the full run of auction items on eBay.com.

I feel like I’ve had this conversation a number of times, but I know the lack of a real “official” report left the seed of doubt firmly planted in many fans’ minds. But rest assured, today Toys “R” Us has confirmed, via this section of their website that the G.I. Joe “Danger at the Docks” SDCC Exclusive will be available via TRU.com after its debut at the show.
So for folks who aren’t able to hit up ComicCon, this great looking set will be hitting the TRU website (and if past years are any indication, brick and mortar stores as well).
It’s okay to celebrate now! I’ve mirrored some great press images of the SDCC Exclusive Danger at the Docks set below.

Hasbro’s Public Relations firm has made available the high resolution press photos for the ComicCon 2014 “Danger at the Docks” set. This set begins as an SDCC Exclusive, but then should be available at Toys “R” Us following the debut in San Diego.
I know there has been some confusion about the availability of this set, but as first reported right here on YoJoe, the intention is for this set to be available at Toys “R” Us following its release at SDCC. You can find some images below, including a great shot of some brand new accessories built just for this set!
Thanks as always to Hunter PR for making these images available.
