Darkness Falls Episode 23 “Broken Cover” is online

Running a little behind schedule today, but managed to get the latest episode posted on Sunday as promised.

The G.I. Joe ECO Force has managed to overcome their zombie attackers, but in the motor pool, a pitched battle still wages.  Destro certainly looks to have the upper hand, but looks can be deceiving…

New G.I. Joe Kre-O Blind Bags found in the wild… but with a twist!

Well, actually a couple of twists. First and foremost, the finding is from a retail Toys “R” Us in Utah, and reports that they have found Blind Bag Wave 5 in stores. So, the first question is… where is Wave 4? Perhaps Wave 4 is impending as well…

But the second and more pressing issue in my mind is there appears to be a lack of blind bag codes. This was reported on some Transformers Kre-Ons a short while ago, and unfortunately the tactic has officially passed along to the G.I. Joe side as well. I’m certainly not happy about it, and this will probably result in me just picking and choosing the loose figures on eBay or some other service. I don’t have a local Toys “R” Us, so I’m certainly not going to make a special 120 mile round trip just to buy an armful of Kre-Ons and hope I get the ones I want.

I kind of understand why Hasbro is doing it, but I don’t much like it.

Check out the image below and thanks to Edward G on Twitter for the info.

The fifth wave of G.I. Joe Kre-O contains the below list of figures, and a gallery from ComicCon can be seen right here.

  • Zarana
  • Bullet Man (!!!)
  • Lifeline
  • Outback
  • Stinger Driver
  • Dial Tone
  • Techno Viper
  • Ninja Ku
  • Leatherneck
  • Tele Viper
  • Iceberg
  • Battle Damage B.A.T.

Addendum posted to Revoltech “Revolmini” Solid Snake review

I posted my review of the recently released Revoltech “Revolmini” Solid Snake a couple of weeks ago, but admittedly I wasn’t really sure exactly what the curiously shaped white object that came with the figure was.

Well, within moments of posting the review, I was thoroughly educated, and I’ve posted some new images and details in the Revolmini Review.

Essentially you can take off Solid Snake’s face and use the tool to change his eyes.

Yes, you read that right.  You can take off Solid Snake’s face.  Totally not creepy.

Actually, yeah, it’s pretty creepy.  Check out the review right here, but don’t look too long at Snake’s faceless husk, it’ll haunt your dreams.

GeneralsJoes Reviews Danger at the Docks (Regular Retail Version)

It’s been a couple of weeks since I reviewed the ComicCon exclusive Danger at the Docks set, and now it’s time for me to cover the regular Toys “R” Us release, a set that actually caught me a bit by surprise.

While many folks were busy caressing the SDCC set and appreciating its vintage accuracy, I found myself quite impressed with the new urban deco of this repaint.

The World Will Always Need G.I. Joe
Karen Traviss Leads A Bold New Series

GIJOE_s401_cvr2

San Diego, CA (August 27, 2014) – Acclaimed British military science-fiction author Karen Traviss reignites the G.I. JOE franchise with an all-new series. Filled with the kind of gritty realism fans of the author have come to expect, this new take on G.I. JOE is guaranteed to please followers of the classic property and comic readers experiencing it for the first time.

The world has changed and so must G.I. JOE—lead by Scarlett, the once-revered G.I. JOE team faces an unthinkable reality where Cobra has become an unlikely peacekeeping taskforce. Utilizing real-world dangers and politics, this is a G.I. JOE comic the likes of which has never been seen.

“Karen understands the world of men and women in the military,” says IDW Senior Editor John Barber. “She gets what their reality is like—which is why she’s held in such high regard by veterans, as well as fans of character-driven action.

Traviss guides an all-star squad of talent on this monthly series starting with fan-favorite artist Steve Kurth on interior art. With a keen eye for design, Jeffery Veregge provides striking covers to the series. The first issue will feature a subscription variant cover by Cliff Chiang.

“When John [Barber] asked me to write the series, it was one of those spooky coincidences,” said Traviss. “I’d literally just finished writing a scene for my new novel, GOING GREY, where two of the characters – vets now serving as private military contractors – discuss whether having G.I. Joe and Action Man as boys, influenced their choice of career. G.I. Joe is still that iconic after 50 years, because it’s about people, and it’s never shied away from the human reality of warfare. I’m genuinely delighted to have the chance to work on the franchise.”

Look for this new series to infiltrate comic shops this September, and follow IDW Publishing on facebook.com/idwpublishing and @idwpublishing for more news and updates!
