Behind the scenes look at Tom Scioli’s Transformers and G.I. Joe

We’ve gotten our fair share of G.I. Joe and Transformers cross overs throughout the years from Marvel, Devils’ Due, and even Dreamwave, but to date we have not gotten the same thing yet from IDW Publishing.

This summer that all changes as Tom Scioli takes over writing (along with John Barber) and art duties for the upcoming Transformers and G.I. Joe limited series. By all accounts, though, this isn’t our typical crossover. Scioli says that this story doesn’t take place in any real existing continuities, but it sounds like it works as a story enough to fit where the reader wants it to fit.

But what’s truly unique about this upcoming series is Scioi’s fascinating take on the artwork. Using the 80’s aesthetic with some very cosmic style artwork, Scioli completely embraces the vintage look and feel, and I’m loving it. Newsrama interviewed Scioli about his process in accepting the job and working through the early stages.

Find the interview right here, and check out a couple of early images below.

Still looking for G.I. Joe: Retaliation Wave 4? Hit your local Toys “R” Us

One of the most in demand figures from 2013 was the Wave 4 Night Viper, and this figure has been increasingly difficult to locate for a reasonable price. Well, good news for folks with local Toys “R” Us stores! There are reports spreading throughout the country of folks finding this latest wave at their local brick & mortar Toys “R” Us stores. Wave 4 features Jinx, Blind Master, and the aforementioned Night Viper, which should hopefully make the figure a bit more easy to locate.

Happy hunting! Check out the links below for more Night Viper goodness:

First four Figure Subscription Service figures available at Club store

The first half of the FSS 2.0 has been shipped to eager G.I. Joe fans everywhere, but for folks who don’t have a subscription, it’s been a “wait and see” game. For the first four figures (Shipwreck, Airtight, Skullbuster, and Wide Scope) that wait is over!

Check out the GIJoe Collectors Club Store right now to get your hands on the first four FSS 2.0 figure releases, now up for sale.

Sales of the second FSS will directly impact likelihood for a third, and hopefully these figures are deemed popular enough to warrant more to come. I’m hoping we might hear something about FSS 3.0 at the G.I. Joe convention in April.

Go get ’em.

G.I. Joe Collectors Club posts final sample image of Cross Country

While we’ve already seen a heavily Photoshopped image of the upcoming 2014 Membership figure, the G.I. Joe Collectors Club has now posted an image of the final production sample of the upcoming Cross Country figure. You can check out the image over on GIJoeClub.com!

You MUST be a member by March 16th in order to get this figure, and trust me, past years are selling for big bucks right now. It’s only $44 for the year, and it comes with the free figure, plus 12 issues of a really fun newsletter to boot.

Check out the Cross Country image below, and hit up GIJoeClub.com for the latest Club news and announcements.
