by generalsjoes | Jul 29, 2014 | 12" Scale, G.I. Joe, Sideshow Reviews
Unlike many other G.I. Joe fans out there, I was drawn to this 12″ Destro the first minute I saw it. The great modern touches and terrific vintage throwbacks seemed to create the perfect combination for this Sideshow update. Granted, it was nowhere near 100% vintage accurate, but I’m one of those folks who doesn’t need that sort of stuff to enjoy a figure.
All in all, as much as I was looking forward to the figure, the end result matched every single expectation I had.

It doesn’t seem like a stretch that Metal Gear and G.I. Joe go together like chocolate and peanut butter. They both involve covert military operatives, future-infused technology, and a healthy dose of crazed personalities with pseudo-supernatural abilities. I’ve often said the perfect G.I. Joe video game for me would be one strongly influenced by Metal Gear.
I’ve seen countless Sold Snake customs throughout the years, and as the great parts library has grown and evolved, those customs have gotten better and better. But perhaps we’re finally at a place where we can own a (relatively) G.I. Joe scale Solid Snake without customizing?!
Revoltech has just released a “Micro” Solid Snake figure, which stands a hair over 4″ tall. That means it’s not quite 100% within G.I. Joe scale, but I believe it works well enough for most collectors and display folks. You can find it at Big Bad Toy Store in stock now!
YouTube Toy Review Pharaoh Black has posted a pretty comprehensive review of the figure, including some nice size comparisons. Check out the review below as well. I’ve just ordered one myself, expect a full review shortly!

First of all, some apologies, as I know this is a very short episode, but the flow of the story just felt right with the shorter episode this week. It should pick back up next week.
The G.I. Joe team has successfully broken Cobra’s front ranks, but the battle is far from won…and what does General Flagg have up his sleeve? The Final Countdown begins NOW. Err… but it’s a long countdown… we got like 20 episodes left.
Check out the latest episode in the Darkness Falls section, or the link below!
