IDW has passed along solicitation info for their upcoming slate of G.I. Joe comics, hitting local comic shops in November, 2010. Along with these solicitations comes the surprise announcement of a strange new “out of continuity” book called G.I. Joe: Future Noir. This comic is a two issue limited series that looks at an alternate universe of G.I. Joe in a very interesting, anime-influenced style.
I’m sure continuity mavens will be annoyed… we’ll see how it turns out.

has anyone been reading Hearts and Minds? I’ve only seen reviews of the first issue.
Hearts and minds is a pretty decent read although it doesn’t seem to fit in the new idw universe. The series reminds me of more in-depth file cards, but just as you’re hoping for more story on a character the story is over.
I think Idw is getting close to over saturation of their GI Joe books at this point. They’ll now have four different continuities with the addition of this new magna verse.
I just started reading Hearts and Minds, having collected the first three issues. I’m really looking forward to the final two issues.
They’re already way past the point of over saturation.
The Dixon regular and Hama old continuity series are fine but for the rest I really think they should try a monthly anthology at $5.99 that has three or four stories in it instead of all the multiple titles they solicit every month.
Hearts & Minds wasn’t meaty enough to be sold in singles but a Hearts & Minds story in an anthology book that also contained an IDW continuity Origins story, an IDW continuity Cobra story, a Paramount continuity story, and something different like Noir would’ve felt like a much better value.
